The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar has turned over and the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season is quickly approaching we are highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '24 Class Rankings and remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior season.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our PBR California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a SoCal '24 LHP Jacob Imoto out of Mission Hills HS in San Diego.  Standing 6'3 and weighing in at 190 lbs. Imoto has a good frame for a durable LHP at the next level. He has broad shoulders with a wiry frame that has room to continue adding strength to it. His delivery features good body control and on the lower side in terms of effort while staying online with his lower half to allow his quick arm to work cleanly. The arm action is relatively loose with enough arm speed to work up to 87.2 MPH on his FB while sitting at 83-86 MPH with some arm side run and sink to the offering. Spins a SLD as his main secondary pitch which works in the 71.5 - 73.5 MPH range with some depth along with its horizontal shape. Does feature a CHG, but it currently sits as his 3rd offering behind the FB/SLD combo. Control is more effective to his arm side currently, but there is enough athleticism and feel for his delivery to polish the glove side control. There is starter potential for him based on the frame, strength, cleaness of the delivery and athletic ability, but will need to mix all 3 pitches to slot in as a starter. Should a move to the pen be necessary at the next level the FB/SLD combo will carry him and should see a tick up in the life of his stuff in shorter stints. An intriguing arm with a good frame and working on the LH side make Imoto one to keep an eye on this spring for 4-year and JUCO programs.
