Colorado Power 25 Rankings: Week 7

Caleb Dameron
Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

On Thursday, March 7th the Colorado spring season began play for all 5A-1A baseball programs. We continue our CHSAA Power 25 rankings with a look at how the teams have produced through the first seven weeks. The Prep Baseball Colorado staff has diligently scouted players and teams throughout this spring, and will continue to work hard to bring the state top notch coverage on the baseball diamond. Colorado is flourishing with high-end baseball talent at the moment and is starting to gather more and more national recognition as well. We hope to continue all momenutum in the state while making an impact on the players and teams within.

MARQUEE MATCHUPS:

FOSSIL RIDGE vs PRAIRIE VIEW

The top two teams in the Front Range league will square off this Tuesday night under the lights at Prairie View High School. There should be no shortage of high-end pitching in this one as we will likely see the aces from either staff in Fabian Gaeta (Prairie View) and Easton Miller (Fossil Ridge). Both of these arms have stifled pretty much every team they've faced so far, and their stats are quite staggering up to this point. Miller has chucked 34 innings with 70 strikeouts while allowing just a .136 opponent batting average. Gaeta is now up to 66 strikeouts across 38 innings to go with his .135 opponent batting average allowed. We can also tell you that Gaeta is coming off of a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts against cross-town rival Brighton. However, both offenses have produced well this spring and this game could be for ownership of the Front Range league title when things are all said and done.

CHEROKEE TRAIL vs CHERRY CREEK

This is another matchup where we could see some big time arms dominate. Both programs are also surging at the moment with both teams winning each of their last 6 games. The Centennial league has 5 solid squads right now who could compete for the league title, but these two teams are certainly leading the way after 7 weeks of play. We expect this matchup to be one of the best of the week as each team fights for the league title and for overall seeding purposes.

REGIS JESUIT vs LEGEND

To cap off the week, Regis Jesuit and Legend will square off on Saturday in what should be yet another game you won't want to miss. Both of these programs have firepower throughout their pitching staffs and lineups, while they have also each been ranked #1 at one point this spring. We can also tell you that there are some intriguing young prospects on either of these teams with Christian Lopez, Luke Reasbeck, Hudson Alpert, Tyler Houston, Silas Meuli, and Jacob Fladebo all being top uncommitted ranked players within the state.
