The Prep Baseball Ontario staff opened up the 2024 showcase season this past weekend with the Canadian College & University Showcase in Welland, Ontario. With our first one out of the way, we have a slew of events to look forward to with six more events through February and March, beginning with the Greater Toronto Preseason ID on February 19th at the Vaughan Sportsplex.

Preseason ID's gives players an opportunity to showcase themselves and update their profiles/metrics/video before heading South to open up the year with Spring Training. The event also serves as an identifier and qualifier for Prep Baseball Select events such as the Future Games (2025 + 2026/2027 teams), Jr. Future Games, West Coast Games, Best of the West, and more!

We're now less than two weeks out of the Greater Toronto Preseason ID and the roster is filling out nicely with 75+ players already set to join us. With a large portion of the roster already filled out, our staff begins to break it down below with four players to keep an eye on.

Gus Reid SS / RHP / Adam Scott, ON / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 13 / POS: 7 Our staff got its first look at Reid late in the summer at the 15U Ray Carter Cup National Championship where he dominated with a strong two-way game. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound right-hander worked up to 84mph on the mound and flashed a CH and SL as secondary offerings. Reid also swung the bat well all week long and showed well up the middle. It will be interesting to see which side of his game has elevated the most over the winter. Reid will be on the scene for several more years in the Class of 2026 and we’re excited to get a look at the two-way product early on in 2024. ‘26 RHP/SS Gus Reid @BaseballOntario Reid was dominant out of the pen going 3 2/3 innings with 5 strikeouts. Nathaniel Chambers RHP / Silverthorn Collegiate Institute, ON / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 73 / POS: 27 Chambers took the mound in May at our Summer Future Games Trials and impressed with his size, projection and overall potential. Slender 6-foot-4, 175-pound frame and the fastball sat 85-87mph with a developing SL/CH the last time we saw him. With the towering frame, Chambers was still figuring himself out on the mound so it will be interesting to see how the overall mechanics are later on this month. Jacob Ault C / SS / Spring Valley, ON / 2028 Ault will be one of the youngest players in attendance at the GTA Preseason ID but will be one to keep an eye on as the 2028 rankings go live in the Fall of 2024. The Ancaster Diamondbacks product was one of the big winners at our two Freshman Free Showcases this past Fall as he showed an advanced feel for the game for his age. Left-handed hitting catcher who’s looking to follow in his older brother's footsteps, Mason Ault, as a premiere catcher in the province. Noah Cantwell 3B / C / Monsignor Doyle , ON / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 18 / POS: 3 2025 3B/C Noah Cantwell put together a strong 2023 campaign that saw him on the field with top prospects in the province and country at several events. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound infielder has shown the ability to impact the ball from the right-side. Cantwell is one of the top uncommitted bats in Ontario’s 2025 class and he has a chance to steal the show on the positional side at the Greater Toronto Preseason ID. It’s been a couple years since we’ve had Cantwell at an event so our staff is intrigued to see where his metrics and data have him at.
