Scouting Report
5’11, 165 lbs with stocky strength and proportional frame. Sets up in the box with a tall, upright stance & wider hitting base. Hands stay high throughout with short, tight push back load at rear shoulder. Low leg lift with a subtle weight shift onto backside. Shorter forward stride into balanced landing. Easy, repeatable swing with depth and a flat path through the zone. Stays tall after contact with slight leverage. More of gap to gap power presently with feel for manipulating the barrel and spraying ball. Defensively, starts tall then gets into a slight pre-pitch hop to create rhythm when the ball comes off the bat. Hips sink down to the ball & he uses a flat hip hinge to stay over the play. Short, quick footwork. Soft glove hand. Funnels into chest with lower exchange into fuller arm action and low ¾ slot. Ball shows accuracy out of hand and he keeps momentum behind the play.
On the mound, worked exclusively from the stretch from the center of the rubber. Comes set with lower hand placement and slight flexion on rear leg. Shoulders stay level at leg lift as he coils into rear hip and pushes off rear leg. Average stride length into a soft, balanced landing. Higher takeaway with arm action. Gets full extension, showing ball to 2nd base then shortens up with tighter arm action into high ¾ release. Taller, more upright finish out front. Backside comes through. Eyes stay on target throughout. FB plays well in upper half of zone with carry. Depth and shape on breaker that he lands for strikes and can expand the zone with.
