TEAM OUTLOOK

The Westwood Warriors, led by Coach Casey Carter, return seven Seniors that will play a pivotal role in the team’s success in 2024. The Warriors believe the strength of their team this season will be their pitching and their defense.

You don’t have to look very hard to see why pitching will be perhaps the biggest strength of the Warriors this season. Their rotation will be spearheaded by UCONN commit 2024 LHP/OF Owen Norrell, and 2024 uncommitted RHP/3B Ridge Morgan. Morgan is currently ranked No. 82 in the state for the 2024 class, making him one of the top uncommitted arms remaining in the state. Last spring, we saw Morgan run his fastball up to 88 mph in-game and are looking forward to seeing how he’s developed his game since then this coming season. Some other returning arms to keep tabs on this spring for Westwood include: 2024 RHP/INF John Ramsey (uncommitted), 2025 RHP Jacob Wright (uncommitted), and 2026 LHP/1B Antonio Martinez. The Warriors won’t be without newcomers on the bump either with Sophomore RHP/INF Justice Moore and Freshman INF/RHP Grant Boren hopeful to pitch meaningful innings as underclassmen in 2024.

Westwood additionally returns four uncommitted Senior bats to follow in C Mike Davis, INF Jake Jones, OF Jackson Gula, and OF Lane Wood. These four with the help of Norrell, Morgan, Ramsey, and Martinez should make up a solid lineup for 2024, allowing for newcomers to get in the mix as well throughout the season. Some Freshmen to keep an eye on as they begin their high school careers for the Warriors include the previously mentioned Boren, as well as C/RHP Cooper Waits and OF/RHP Weston Franz.

Due to their talented pitching staff headlined by Norrell and Morgan, the Warriors could be a fun team to follow throughout the 2024 spring season and potentially in the postseason as well.
