NE Insider: The Recruiting Angle with William Hesslink
This time of year seems to be a very nerve racking time for unsigned seniors and underclassmen looking to get on coaches radar. No need to panic, it's early in the spring and once it warms up, the coaches will be out to see your game. Relaxing and enjoying the spring season is important, so keep in mind, control the controllable things and work on your game.
The following weekly article will be a feature on a player who has yet to break onto the scene, but certainly has the ability to play and/or pitch at the college level.
Today we are going to take a look at William Hesslink, a 2016 RHP from Rice Memorial (VT).
Scouting Report
Pitches from a high-¾ slot with a short arm path on the backside. He is sitting in the mid 80s now with a feel for spinning the ball in the 70s. The changeup is a work in progress but there are a lot of things to like thus far. The delivery is simple and not a ton of action to the front side. Lands on a stiff front leg and gets out front with the arm very nicely. The leg lift is simple and deliberate allowing him to let his arm work. He is worth a follow for sure, as many know, its a left-handed game and left-handers are at a premium.
