Region X - Div I Tournament Recap & Post Season Awards

The Region X tournaments started on Friday May 7^th with the Division 1 tournament being held at Lexington County Ballpark in Lexington, SC.  Below is a full recap of the week, with Florence-Darlington Tech CC taking home the championship.

Tournament Schedule & Results

Friday, May 7
Game 1 at 10:00am: #5 USC Salkehatchie defeated #4 USC Union - 7-6

• USC Union led through 7^th but Salkehatchie plated runs in the 8^th to take the game

Game 2 at 1:00pm:#3 Louisburg defeated #6 USC Sumter - 6-5

• Louisburg came back from a 4-0 deficit scoring 1 in the 4^th, 4 in the 5^th, and walking off with a run in the 9^th
• KJ Wells worked a perfect 9^th for the win, striking out 2
• Trendon Craig & Logan West each had 2 hits for Louisburg
• Elie Weisner homered for Louisburg

Game 3 at 4:30pm: #2 Spartanburg Methodist defeated #7 USC Lancaster - 9-4

• SMC jumped out to an early 4-1 lead after 2 innings and never looked back
• SMC scored in their final 4 at-bats to put the game away

Game 4 at 7:30pm: #1 Florence-Darlington Tech defeated #5 USC Salkehatchie - 9-0, 8 inn  

• Nathan Williams and Jacob Greer combine on a no-hitter
• Nathan Williams struck out 14, including the 1^st 11 hitters faced for FDTCC
• HR from Scott McDonough and Luke Wood for FDTCC

Saturday, May 8
Game 5 at 10:00am: #3 Louisburg defeated #2 Spartanburg Methodist - 6-2

• Tyler Hall worked a complete game, punching 5 in the Win
• Trendon Craig, Eli Weisner, and David Cucci all had multiple hits for Louisburg

Game 6 at 1:00pm: #6 USC Sumter defeated #7 USC Lancaster (eliminated) - 6-5

• Sumter plated 4 in the 2^nd to take a 5-1 lead
• Lancaster socred in the 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th innings to tie the game only to see Sumter plate the winning run in the 8^th and hold on

Game 7 at 4:30pm: #2 Spartanburg Methodist defeated #4 USC Union (eliminated) - 12-3, 7 inn.

Game 8 at 7:30pm: #6 USC Sumter defeated #5 USC Salkehatchie (eliminated) - 7-5

Sunday, May 9
Game 9 at 10:00am: #2 Spartanburg Methodist  defeated #6 USC Sumter (eliminated) - 11-0, 6 inn.

Game 10 at 1:00pm: #1 Florence-Darlington Tech defeated #3 Louisburg - 8-3

• A 6 run 2^nd would be plenty of cushion for FDTCC starter Hunter Parks
• Hunter Parks punched 14 in 7 innings of work
• JT Marr, Luke Wood, and Scott McDonough each had two hits for FDTCC

Game 11 at 4:30pm: #2 Spartanburg Methodist defeated #3 Louisburg (eliminated) - 12-8

Monday, May 10
Championship Game at 1:00pm: #1 Florence-Darlington Tech defeats #2 Spartanburg Methodist (eliminated) - 13-7

• Down 2-1, FDTCC would plate 6 in the 5^th to take the lead, adding insurance runs with 3 spots in the 7^th and 8^th
• Charlie Mac Toman worked 5 innings in the win
• Luke Wood, Gary Lora, and Patrick Baggett each had multiple hits for FDTCC
