As we near the end of 2023, our staff would like to take a look back at the standout players and standout moments from the Virginia/DC High School Season. We have selected five end of the year categories where we will pick out the ten best players/moments for that specific category.

After we presented numbers two through ten of the best bombs from the 2023 high school season, we want to highlight the 2023 VA/DC High School Rewind: Best Overall Homerun. Coming in at the top overall spot is VCU commit and EC Glass ace Cooper Campbell. In 2023, there were plenty of homeruns hit in front of our staff, thirty-seven to be more precise. Our staff compiled video all of those homeruns from the one-hundred and eighty-three games we attended and broke down the Top 10.

Making his debut at #1 is the first round draft pick, Jonny Farmelo. Farmelo hit two homeruns during the VHSL 6A State Quarterfinal game, one of them being the walk-off homerun that will allow him to bring home the Best Bomb award. Farmelo was the 29th overall pick and was taken by the Seattle Mariners. Farmelo displayed his elite speed, hit tool, and elite bat to ball ability throughout the high school season, but it was during that game where he came up in the biggest spot.

Best Bomb of 2023
