2024 FL Preseason Classic: Day 2 Recap

The 2024 Prep Baseball Florida Preseason Classic continued Wednesday, February 14 at Lawnwood Baseball Complex in Fort Pierce, Florida. Wednesday featured two games at 4:00 and 7:00 PM.

Doral Academy vs Spruce Creek

Doral Academy and Spruce Creek faced off Wednesday, with Spruce coming out of top 4-0. Spruce Creek took the lead in the third inning when Lamar Edwards hit a triple, bringing in a run. 

CJ Asbill was the winning pitcher for Spruce, allowing only one hit and no runs over four innings, with one strikeout and one walk. On the other hand, Aaron Elissalt took the loss as the starting pitcher for Doral Academy Varsity Firebirds, giving up two runs on four hits in four innings, with three strikeouts and two walks. 

George Pardo had a good performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 for Doral. For Spruce Creek, Lamar Edwards led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3. Julian Braga and Lucas Tutunjian each drove in a run for Spruce Creek.

Viera vs Jensen Beach

It was an intense game on Wednesday between Viera and Jensen Beach, with Viera coming out on top in a walk-off victory, winning 2-1. In the bottom of the seventh inning, with Viera trailing 1-0, Alexander Westfield hit a single that brought in two runs, securing the win for his team.

Both teams pitched well throughout the game. Viera pitchers struck out a total of 13 batters, while Jensen Beach pitchers struck out 14.

Jensen Beach scored first in the sixth inning on a wild pitch to give them a 1-0 lead. 

Dylan Jordan started the game for Viera and had an impressive performance, not allowing any hits or runs over three innings. He struck out five batters and walked three. Cian Copeland started the game for Jensen Beach, also not allowing any hits or runs over four innings. He struck out seven batters and walked one.

Deaglan McBride came in as a relief pitcher for Viera and pitched two shutout innings, not allowing any hits. He struck out three batters and walked one.

Kian Crockett and Alexander Westfield each contributed with one hit for Viera. Viera combines for a No-Hitter and defeats Jensen Beach 2-1.
