The 2024 Prep Baseball Florida Preseason Classic and Preseason Open continued Thursday, February 15 at Lawnwood Baseball Complex in Fort Pierce, Florida. Thursday featured two Classic games at 4:00 and 7:00 PM and an Open game at 4:30.

Miami Christian vs Sebring

It was a competitive game between Sebring and Miami Christian Thursday at the Preseason Classic. Mlami Christian took an early lead in the first inning with a run scored by Willy Mendez. However, Sebring quickly responded in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs thanks to a double by Cole Travers and a single by Nate Arnan.

Mlami Christian tied the game at two in the fourth inning with a single by Jendy Gonzalez. Sebring regained the lead in the fifth inning when an error allowed two runs to score, making it 4-2 in their favor. However, Mlami Christian fought back in the sixth inning, scoring four runs with singles from Dylan Prince and Ray Yero, taking the lead 6-4. They would get one more to make it 7-4 and that’s where the score would finish.

On the pitching side, Rhett Vaughn got the start but was replaced early by Brody Hall who gave up one run and three hits over one inning. Lucas Rodriguez started for Miami Christian and struck out nine over four innings.

At the plate, Cole Travers led the way, going 2-for-3.

Mlami Christian had a strong offensive showing, collecting nine hits. Ray Yero had a standout performance, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Prince and Yero were a dynamic duo, each driving in two runs for Mlami Christian. Jendy Gonzalez also contributed with two hits in three at-bats.

John Carroll vs Trinity Christian Academy (LW)

John Carroll faced off with Trinity Christian Thursday at the Preseason Open. Getting the start for the Rams was Taggert Cameron. Cameron worked four innings of one run ball collecting seven strikeouts. Colt Miller struck out three in three shutout innings in relief.

On the other side, Daniel Cabrera started for TCA going three innings, allowing three runs with four strikeouts. Peyton Warner struck out five in two shutout innings of relief.

Offensively, Brennan Jones led the way for John Carroll with a triple and two RBI. Aiden Levy collected a RBI single.

For TCA, Oscar Diaz tripled to drive in their only run. John Carroll wins 3-1.

Lincoln vs Westminster Christian

Thursday night at the Preseason Classic featured Westminster Christian taking on Lincoln. Westminster took an early lead in the first inning when Ethan Puig singled, driving in a run. However, Lincoln responded in the fourth inning with a double by Nate Dietz, tying the game at one.

Westminster Christian regained the lead in the fifth inning on a sac fly, making it 2-1. But Lincoln quickly tied the game again in the bottom of the fifth with a triple by Garrett Harper.

On the pitching side, Lazaro Collera started the game for Westminster Christian, pitching three scoreless innings and striking out six batters. Garrett Harper started for Lincoln, giving up one run and three hits over two innings, with two strikeouts.

Manny Marin had an impressive performance at the plate for Westminster Christian, going 3-for-4. Puig and Talan Beckford each drove in a run for the Warriors.

Harper led the offensive efforts for Lincoln with two hits. Dietz and Harper each drove in a run for the team. Chase Fuller closed out the last two innings with four strikeouts as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
