With 2023 now in the past, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage that can be found anywhere in 2024. Starting in February, we began releasing team previews for squads across the state. Ahead, we will have Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings coming your way.

2024 Spring Team Preview: Hilltop Cadets

Team Name: Hilltop Cadets
Head Coach: Tony Gerig
Division: IV
2023 Record: 13-10
2023 Tourney Finish: Sectional Finals loss to Toledo Christian
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 7/4

Coach Outlook: "We are extremely excited about our team's prospects for 2024. We return our core talent/leaders/arms from a year ago and have a very talented freshmen class coming in that will help us immediately. We have a sense of urgency to make the most of what could be the most talented baseball team Hilltop has ever had. It's our job to make the most of this talent and put it all together. "

2024 Team Strengths:

  • Depth of pitching and hitting. We have 6 arms that we feel confident that can get varsity outs and also believe we'll have a lineup that will put pressure on a defense 1-9 in the order.

  • Devin Dempsey, C/P/IF, 2025, 5'9/170, 2 year starter, .371 AVG, 28 R, 21 RBI, 14 SB. 3.67 ERA, 64 K
