Ohio Crossroads Select Baseball Series (Top Position Players) - 6/23/16

Brett Lowther, 2B/SS, Cuyahoga Heights, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 175-pound thinner, athletic body frame. In the infield he uses good footwork to approach ground balls, while continuing to play through the baseball. He fields with softer hands out in front of his body. He throws with a clean, short arm action, through a lower ¾ slot, while reaching a top velocity of 77 mph. Right-handed hitter starts from a balanced stance, using simple and repeatable mechanics. He uses minimal load with his hands moving short to the ball, swinging with a level bat path through the zone. He ran a 7.15 60-yard dash.

Bryan Yoder, C/1B, Hiland, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 195-pound athletic body frame. Currently ranked #85 overall in Ohio’s 2017 class. From the crouch he uses good footwork to get his body turned and in line on his throws down to second base. Has a quick catch to release transfer, using 76 mph arm strength to produce pop times between 1.94-2.00. Right-handed hitter starts from a balanced stance and uses simple mechanics. He swings with a level bat path through the zone, finishing with a two-handed follow through. He produced line drive action, showing the ability to use both sides of the field during his round of batting practice. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash.

Bryce Borton, OF, Defiance, 2017
Scouting Report: 5-foot-11, 160-pound thinner, athletic body frame. Currently ranked #56 overall in Ohio’s class of 2017. The outfielder uses choppier stops to help him break down and approach ground balls, fielding the ball on his glove side. He throws with a clean arm action, through an upper ¾ slot while using 84 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter starts from a wide, slightly open stance, getting himself squared back up to even with a leg kick before he swings. Swings with an upward bat path, finishing high with a two-handed follow through. He showed the ability to use both sides of the field during his round of batting practice. Finished running a 6.70 60-yard dash.

Ohio Crossroads Select Baseball Series (Top Arms) - 6/20/16

Blake Wright, RHP/3B, Piqua, 2017
Scouting Report: 6-foot-3, 205-pound athletic body frame. From the mound he throws with regular effort to his delivery. He lands in a straight line at foot strike. Throws with a shorter arm action, using just above average arm speed through an upper ¾ slot. His fastball was between 81-84 mph. His curveball showed gradual break with 11/5 tilt between 65-70 mph. His changeup was thrown between 74-76 mph. Also showcased a knuckle at 73 mph.

Cade Rybolt, RHP/SS, Springfield Shawnee, 2017
Scouting Report: Thin 6-foot-2, 155-pound projectable body frame, with room to fill. He uses regular effort to his simple delivery, in which he uses a high straight up and down leg lift. Finishes landing in a straight line at foot strike, with good direction, carrying his momentum toward home plate. Throws with quickness to his arm speed, through a ¾ slot. His fastball was thrown between 82-85 mph. Curveball has tight break with 11/5 tilt at 70 mph. He also threw his changeup between 70-71 mph.
