Unsigned Senior Spotlight: SS Reed Spata

Reed Spata, SS, Scott HS, 2014spata

Reed Spata is a 5-foot-11, 178-pound SS from Scott HS in Northern Kentucky.  Spata has attended two PBR Events in the last six weeks and on both occasions has shown the ability to hit for power.

At the Unsigned Senior Games Event at Northern Kentucky University, Spata impressed with the pop in his bat.  After driving the ball in batting practice, which included taking one over the 18-foot high fence in left-field, Spata followed in game play with a double deep down the left field line and a no doubt bomb to left-center that cleared the fence with plenty of room to spare.

At the Fall Prospect Program at Morehead State, Spata again showed his power in batting practice, taking one out over the left field fence and followed with two doubles during game play.

Spata has shown an 83 mph arm across the infield and a 4.44 time down the first base line.  He uses a strong lower half and quick hands to generate plenty of bat speed, as evidenced by his 91 mph exit velocity off the tee.  Defensively he shows soft hands and good lateral movement.
