Prep Baseball Texas Staff

The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After a rebuilding year in 2023, the Beeville Trojans look primed for a big year in 2024 with their returning pieces. Coach Richard Vasquez’s squad looks to be led by their returning pitching, as well as the seven All-District players they return from 2023.

On the mound, the Trojans return senior RHP/INF Micah Martinez (uncommitted), who earned Second Team All-District last season and should lead the staff heading into the spring. Joining him on the mound will be a pair of sophomore southpaws that shared the District’s Freshman of the Year award last year in LHP/OF Tyler Lang and LHP/OF Davyn Perez. The Trojans will get contributions on the mound from numerous other two-way players throughout the spring.

Beeville returns four two-way players who were All-District last season in senior OF/P Ransom McElwain (uncommitted - Honorable Mention), junior INF/RHP Caleb DeLeon (uncommitted - Second Team), and sophomores INF/RHP Brian Rivas Jr. (2026 - First Team) and INF/RHP Damien Vasquez (2026 - Second Team). Two other two-ways to know for the Trojans heading into 2024 are senior INF/RHP Elijah Sustaita (uncommitted) and sophomore newcomer INF/RHP Luke Rovnosky. A pair of infielders back for the Trojans in 2024 are Noah Salas (2024; uncommitted) and Mason Rodriquez (2025; uncommitted).

Despite missing out on the playoffs in 2023 with a very young team, the 2024 Trojans look primed for a playoff berth considering their pitching depth and overall returning talent.
