The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

The Heights Bulldogs bring back a handful of All-District performers from a season ago, and look to make a deeper 6A postseason run in 2024. Led by Coach David W. Petty, the Bulldogs will be relying on their pitching and defense throughout the spring to take them where they want to go as a team.

Leading the charge on both the mound and in the infield for the Bulldogs will be RHP/INF Brady Pro (2024; uncommitted), who was a First Team All-District player last season. Another senior arm that should lead the pitching staff alongside Pro is RHP Hunter Schwartz (uncommitted), who was a Second Team All-District player a year ago. Another returner on the dirt for the Bulldogs in 2024 is Second Team All-District INF Eduardo Lopez (2024; uncommitted).

In the outfield, the Bulldogs return an impressive upperclassmen trio with two of the three earning All-District honors in 2023. Leading the charge will be a pair of seniors in OF Joseph Church (uncommitted) and OF Armand Martinez (uncommitted), with Martinez being a Second Team All-District player from 2023. A key piece within the Bulldogs’ junior class returns in 2024 in OF Mateo Quintanilla (uncommitted), who joins the aforementioned Pro as a returning First Team All-District player from last season. Sophomore newcomer C/UTL Jose Garcia should be a versatile piece of the puzzle for the Bulldogs in 2024 as he joins the varsity squad.

The reigning District Champs from last season have a lot to be excited about considering the amount of talent they return in 2024. Coach Petty’s squad should be strong defensively and on the mound, potentially leading to another 6A playoff berth in 2024.
