Prep Baseball Texas Staff

The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 30 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Rock Hill Blue Hawks will look to rebound in 2024 after failing to make the playoffs last season. Behind their pitching, defense, and team chemistry, Coach Shaun Stanton is hopeful that his young team will be ready for the challenge in 2024.

This year's Blue Hawks team will be led by a senior duo that has committed to playing at the next level in UTL Grant Nekuza (Northern Oklahoma - Tonkawa) and INF/RHP Nick Fein (SouthArk CC). Nekuza will look to build off of his strong 2023 where he was awarded Second Team All-District. OF/LHP Jacob Garrett (2024; uncommitted) is another senior to know for Rock Hill, as he should factor in as a two-way player in 2024.

UTL/RHP Daniel Vazquez (2025; uncommitted) is back for the Blue Hawks and should help lead the junior class this year, and next. Joining Vazquez in the junior class will be newcomers INF/RHP Trevor Kruse (uncommitted) and INF Bammer Maes (uncommitted), who should both see time on the infield with Kruse potentially factoring in on the mound as well in 2024.

Rock Hill will have newcomers from the sophomore class as well in RHP/INF Trevor Stum, INF/RHP Cole Carrell, and INF/RHP Brady Slanina, with all three hoping to contribute as two-way players for the Blue Hawks. Keep an eye on freshman UTL Jace Faulkner, as a potential instant impact player for Rock Hill this year and for future years as he develops in the program.

Look for Rock Hill to be an intriguing team to follow throughout the spring as they try to rebound in 2024, while continuing to build toward the future.
