On Saturday, Feb. 24, the Prep Baseball Wisconsin staff will be traveling to the northeast portion of the state to host the third annual Green Bay Preseason ID. This is an open event to all high school classes (2024-27), and continues the winter showcase circuit as we progress through 2024.

EVENT HISTORY

The Green Bay Preseason ID provides our staff with a look at some of the talent that resides in the Fox River Valley, Green Bay region and beyond. This event has been a hotbed for prospects who go on to earn invites to marquee events such as the Top Prospect Games in July and the Prep Baseball Future Games to end the summer. 

For some, such as RHP Avery Duncan (Notre Dame Academy, 2024; Dallas Baptist commit), it has led to more than that. Duncan recently performed well at the Super 60 in Chicago a couple of weeks ago—coming off of legit outings in the winter, spring and summer during 2023. Duncan showcased that growth at last year’s event in February with an electric arsenal on the mound. 

RHP Loren Georger (Appleton West, 2025; Baylor) and OF Trevor Vande Hey (Wrightstown, 2025; Iowa) were a pair of prospects who made their way to Georgia after popping at the 2023 Green Bay Preseason ID. Each athlete eventually committed after the event as well—taking advantage of their winter appearance before a strong spring and summer. Both Georger and Vande Hey will be in attendance on Saturday as well.

LHP Ethan Plog (Bay Port, 2024; Iowa Western CC) got on our staff’s radar in the winter at this event, and excelled in one of the top conferences in the state. Plog went on to earn Prep Baseball Wisconsin WIAA First Team All-State honors—using his prowess on the bump to lock in his commitment to Iowa Western CC.

RHP Tavian Ramos (Neenah, 2024; Cornell commit) is another name who used this event last year to break out. After throwing one of the more electric 'pens our staff saw throughout the winter of 2023, where he ran his heater up to 91.1 mph and also showed an innate feel to spin in a couple of breaking balls, he catapulted up our rankings board. Ultimately committing to Cornell later on in the year, and he too is coming back for more in 2024.

2024 ROSTER

This year’s roster boasts some similar talent to last year—including many uncommitted prospects that are looking to showcase their skill set in front of our staff on Saturday. Here’s a look into some of the top athletes who are planning on attending. 

It starts with OF Jackson Neilitz (Plymouth, 2025), a powerful right-handed batter who stands at 6-foot-1, 188-pounds. Neilitz found his groove in the middle of the summer for his travel team—providing a force from the middle of the order. Neilitz has showcased his bat speed and ability to spray line drives to all parts of the field in prior appearances, and looks to do the same on Saturday. He enters as the No. 35 ranked prospect in the Badger State’s 2025 class.

CIF’s Brady Lokken (Mosinee, 2025) and Trent McLain (Florence, 2025) are a pair of infielders who have found the sweet spot for the barrel in prior showcases—looking to continue that trend in Green Bay this weekend. Lokken presented a repeatable approach in the batters box at the Western Wisconsin Open this past July. Similarly, McLain found his rhythm in the fall at the Northern Wisconsin Open—emerging as one of the top bats in both power and average exit velocity from the pool of prospects. 

As for the underclassmen, OF/RHP Matthew Hietpas (Appleton North, 2026) and OF/RHP Carson Hawley (Bay Port, 2026) are two former 2022 PBR Junior Future Games participants, and have continued to shine after performing well on the big stage in Georgia a couple of years ago. Each has potential to elevate themselves into an elite two-way status, as both are looking to be prominent pieces to their spring teams in a couple of weeks. Hietpas and Hawley are currently slotted back-to-back in Wisconsin’s 2026 rankings—standing at 18 and 19 respectively. 

Another sophomore to know that is heading to LHP Jacob Coopman (Menasha, 2026) who made a name for himself during our summer event at ISA, the Northern Wisconsin Open. There, the lean 6-foot, 161 pounder rushed his fastball up to 82.3 mph from an athletic and easy delivery. He also showed present feel for a low-70s slider that flashed tight sweeping action and a 2/6 curveball with depth, too. Rounding off his four-pitch mix is a low-70s changeup that he is able to locate in the zone.

To round out this year’s roster, INF/RHP Sam Abrahamson (Hudson, 2026) is coming off a quality summer where he continued to develop as an intriguing two-way prospect. Abrahamson, at a lean 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame, saw time on the varsity stage for Hudson in his freshman season—returning to the lineup as an experienced athlete in his second year of high school baseball. As he continues to add strength, Abrahamson excites as a pitching prospect and an athletic mover on the infield and in the right-handed batters box. 

While there remain numerous names that our staff is interested in seeing on Saturday, there are multiple new athletes that we are excited to add to our list of uncommitted prospects looking to play at the next level. 

EVENT CHECK-IN PROCESS

Because of the high number of prospects set to attend Saturday’s event, it is imperative that you read our adjusted showcase itinerary below, which will allow our staff to swiftly and efficiently educate and evaluate the players set to attend.

Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smartphone camera that will lead them to a Google Form. On that form, players will enter their name (matching the spelling on their Prep Baseball profile) and hit submit. Upon submission, players will be prompted to click a link that will direct them to their jersey color and number, located next to their registered name.
