Less than a week removed from a heart-breaking loss on a walk-off grand slam at then No. 3 Calvert Hall, Gilman reversed fortunes and dominated the Cardinals Monday afternoon in the rematch. The Greyhounds took advantage of a couple early mis-cues and jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings.

After a quick top of the first, Ryan Williamson and Casey Bishop both reached base to lead off the bottom half on two Cardinal errors. Wake Forest commit Pierce Bennett then stepped to the plate and started the scoring for the Greyhounds with a deep sac-fly to left field. Clean-up stick Jackson McCambridge singled and Bishop later scored on a ground ball error at second base off the bat of Tyler Martinez (San Francisco). McCambridge would come around to score later in the inning as the Greyhounds stormed out to a quick 3-0 lead after one.

Two more errors by Calvert Hall in the bottom of the second set the stage for Williamson to pick up an RBI on a sac-fly to left field making it 4-0.

The Cardinals would respond with one in the top of the third when Jose Torres came around to score on a bases loaded walk to Pete Marchineck. Calvert Hall then cut the lead to one in the top of the fourth with RBI's from Torres and Antonio Barranca

But that is as close as it would get for the remainder of the contest as Gilman answered right back in the bottom half with three runs of their own to make it 7-3. Following a walk and a hit-by-pitch, Williamson lined one back up the middle to score Ryan Martinez and Bennett later cashed in two with a line drive to right-center field.

A base hit by Tripp Myers scored T. Martinez and pinch runner Kofi Whitehead in the fifth for the Greyhounds as they extended the lead to 9-3.

Both teams would exchange runs in the sixth as Nick Tamberino flew out to centerfield for a sac-fly to plate Garrett McIllhenney for Calvert Hall and Cole Phillippou singled to center to score Bennett for the Greyhounds.

With two outs in the seventh, Calvert Hall got a single from pinch hitter Owen Liberto and a triple from McIllhenney to make it 10-5 but that was it as Myers who came on to start the inning on the mound got Torres to pop out to second for the final out of the ballgame.

Matt Leikus took the win on the mound for the Greyhounds going three and one-third innings giving up three runs on five hits while striking out two. Danny Rosenfield came on in relief of Leikus to get Gilman out of a jam in the fourth and went two and two-thirds allowing just one run on three hits and struck out one.

Calvert Hall left eleven runners on in the game and suffer their first loss in MIAA league play falling to 16-3 (11-1), while Gilman improves to 16-8 (9-4) and remain just one game behind McDonogh for second place in the MIAA A Conference.
