Tennessee Senior Games: Pitcher Reports

PBR Tennessee
Staff

NASHVILLE, TN - The Tennessee Senior Games was held on Saturday, September 23rd at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. This event was an open event that consisted of players from the 2024 class from Volunteer state. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look back at all scouting reports from the event. Next, we look at all pitchers from the Tennessee Senior Games.

PITCHER REPORTS

Aidan Carr, Father Ryan (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/1B
Body: 6-0, 178-pounds. Medium build with proportional frame throughout. Plenty of room to add good size with athletic look.
Delivery: Tall righty throws from the stretch only. Has a medium size leg lift that starts his movement down the mound. He gets good extension down the mound and works over his front side well. He opens his hips early which creates some inconsistency in timing with his arm action
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action that gets length towards 1st base. Has a low 3/4 arm action that can be deceptive to RHH
FB: T84, 80-83 mph. FB will play best to the arm side. His FB has some arm side run. Did a good job of locating to his armside T2255, 2133 average rpm.
CB: 70-71 mph. CB has some sweep to it. Big break that has some good horizontal movement. Will be hard for RHH to get on plane with this pitch T2117, 2042 average rpm.
CH: 73-73 mph. CH showed real potential to be an out pitch. Falls off the table when he throws it with intent. T1425, 1425 average rpm.

Gabe Eddington, Montgomery Central (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-9, 145-pounds. Slim frame currently on the smaller side with plenty of projectable traits to add size and muscle mass.
Arm Action: RH
FB: T85, 79-84 mph. Showed some flashes of an electric FB. Could play at the top of the zone with swing and miss potential. Would like to see some more consistency in his motion and being in the zone. Being in the high to mid 80s consistenly will make him even more effective T2352, 2154 average rpm.
CB: 69-72 mph. CB had impressive depth to it. Will get hitters to chase out of the zone. Has impressive spin to it, once he gets some more feel for the pitch he could dominate hitters T2617, 2299 average rpm.
SL: 71-72 mph. SL has great hornz movement. Late sharp break. Was consistent with keeping it in the zone. Plays off his FB well T2582, 2498 average rpm.
ATH: 7.04 runner in the 60. 1.65 in the 10 yard split.

Eli Gardenhire, Boyd Buchanan (TN), 2024

FB: T79, 77-79 mph. Arm side run, works down in the zone. Away from RHH. T1848, 1722 average rpm.
CB: 67-70 mph. Shows solid depth, spotty feel early on in outing. 1/7 shape. T2082, 1984 average rpm.
CH: 70-71 mph. Fading action, great feel. Swing and miss potential. Creates weak contact. T1944, 1726 average rpm.

Positional Profile: RHP/1B

Delivery: Smooth delivery with a good tempo. Loads his hips well and shows good body control as he delivers the pitch
Arm Action: RH. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot. Smooth action that the ball jumps out of. Longer arm action
FB: T83, 80-83 mph. Commanded the FB really well. Moving it around the zone will be a strength of his he should do often. Will set up his offspeed pitches well T2395, 2174 average rpm.
CB: 68-71 mph. Spins the ball well. Has advanced feel for the pitch locating it in the zone often. Will keep batters off balance T2575, 2446 average rpm.
SL: 67-71 mph. SL has good shape and sharp break but needs to be in the zone more. Could be a out pitch if he can be more consistent with it. T2425, 2290 average rpm.
CH: 74-75 mph. CH has good arm side run. Hard to keep it in the zone. With better feel this pitch could keep LHH off his FB T1560, 1462 average rpm.

Positional Profile: LHP
Body: 5-8, 170-pounds. Slim build with present filled out body. Has room to grow taller and add muscle size with more available.

FB: T81, 77-80 mph. FB was located down in the zone consistently. Had some arm side run when located to the arm side. Moving the ball around the zone and setting up his offspeed with be key for his FB T1941, 1796 average rpm.
CB: 70-72 mph. CB had big break and showed swign and miss potential. Plays off his FB well. Needs to be in zone more T2166, 2115 average rpm.

Hayden Stranak, Brentwood Academy (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 6-2, 165-pounds. Lean and long frame with high waisted attributes. Long lever limbs. Room to fill out.
Delivery: Quick tempo delivery, leads with his fornt hip down the mound. Keeps his upper half from rotating creating good separation and unwinds his rotation at foot strike
Arm Action: LH. Throws form a 3/4 arm slot. Arm moves fast and has long arms that are loose and whip through his motion
FB: T86, 84-85 mph. FB will play best when its in the zone. He has good stuff and will induce a lot of swing and miss, especially up in the zone T2328, 2230 average rpm.
CB: 69-72 mph. Spins the ball really good. Once he gets some more feel for it it will be really hard for hitters to square it up. T2419, 2248 average rpm.
SL: 70-70 mph. T2139, 2139 average rpm.
CH: 78-82 mph. CH was in the zone and profiled similar ot his FB, adding some sink to it will make it even more effective. Throwing the CH behind his FB will be key so the speed difference can get hitters on their front foot T2070, 1979 average rpm.

John Ulreich, Oak Ridge (TN), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-3, 170-pounds. Long limbed and high waisted frame with room to fill out.

FB: T79, 76-79 mph. FB has high induced vertical and adding some more velocity will make pitching at the top of the zone very effective for him. T1924, 1820 average rpm.
CB: 61-63 mph. CB has big break to it. SHoould be used to steal strikes and keep hitters off his FB T1610, 1492 average rpm.
SPLT: 64-67 mph. Really good offering and a pitch hitters don't see ever. The velocity really dips on the pitch and has a screwball effect through the zone. Generated a lot of swing and miss at the offering. Must work into the zone to really be effective
