TN Scouting Director

KNOXVILLE, TN - The Prep Baseball Tennessee Knoxville Rising Stars ID was held on Sunday, March 24th at Knoxville Catholic HS in Knoxville, TN. This event was an open event that consisted of players from the 2028-2029 classes from Volunteer state. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at some of the standouts and top performers from the event.

QUICK HITS

Fisher Green SS / RHP / Halls High School, TN / 2028

Green had the most impressive performance at our Knoxville Rising Stars ID. The 8th grader brings in an already great frame at 5-11 150 that is still growing and developing. He moved very well in all aspects of the game. At the plate he has a smooth left stroke, has a small stride forward before launching off of his back leg, with a top exit ve lo of 86. Perhaps where he was most impressive was on the bump. Green's fastball worked 83-84 with ease, working with a short whippy arm action. Shows good feel for a slider that at the moment has more of a dart action. A developing changeup that will develop further as he progresses. Definitely one to keep an eye on as he made a splash at Knoxville Catholic.

Brendan Kutz C / OF / Farragut High School, TN / 2028

A participant at the 2023 Junior Futures Games, Kutz showed good physical development since last summer. Appearing noticeably bigger and stronger. The Catcher moves well running a 7.5 60 yard dash which should go down as he develops. Kutz showed a strong arm on throwdowns, consistently being on the bag with low, online throws. At the plate he gets into a great hitting position at footplant before driving laterally through the front leg.

Eli Rutherford 1B / 3B / Halls High School, TN / 2028

Rutherford had one of the more impressive rounds in BP at the Knoxville Rising Stars ID. Leading the group in trackman exit velocity at 89. He rotates very well through the swing with a simple load and forward move. He also moved well in the field with still developing athleticism that should increase as he further grows into his body. The swing will continue to play and develop more power from the strong 8th grader.

Max Misenhimer 3B / RHP / GRACE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, TN / 2028

The Grace Christian 8th grader was an unfamiliar name coming into the event but left with plenty of recognition as he showcased himself in multiple areas. The shortstop comes in already pretty long with some developed strength in the profile at 5 foot 10 and 165 pounds. He showed some bounce in his step moving around the diamond defensively with smooth glove presentation and agility to move unilaterally with fluidity in the transitions with a short arm action that carried some velocity across the infield on a line. At the plate, he mostly stuck with a line-drive and fly-ball approach that was consistently on barrel for a max 81 mph exit velocity with a group best of an 83% sweet spot rate. The athleticism should continue to climb as he gets into high school but is already showing the ability to play with getting HS varsity playing time already at Grace Christian Academy.

Cole Creasman SS / RHP / Christian Academy Knoxville, TN / 2028

The SS/RHP has a really strong showing Sunday at Knoxville Catholic where the profile already has an established build that should continue to fill out as he matures into his high school career starting next August. At 6 foot 1 and 175 pounds, Creasman packs a punch already where he came second in the total group in max exit velocity at 88 mph, while also pacing everyone with the highest average exit velocity for his rounds with 78 mph. The bat path stays pretty linear on plane through the hitting zone as he showed more line-drive than anything and left with a max batted distance of 266 feet. As he develops, those balls will start coming off the bat with more loft, while also traveling further. However, to hit the ball as far as he did without trying to lift or work under the ball with the barrel showed impressive upside and future potential. Defensively, he worked well to the ball with clean footwork and balance to both sides of his body. Throw comes with a shorter arm-action path that gets rid of the ball quickly, while clocking a 7.5 flat sixty that projects for much more speed.

Kase Spradlen SS / 2B / Greeneville High School, TN / 2028

Spradlen comes into his second Prep Baseball Tennessee showcase and has put on significant weight and length in the profile since the last time we saw him this summer. The left-handed bat holds a lot of athletic componentes in the movement patterns with force in the bat. Feet stay pretty stacked underneath him with relaxed high hands that start with initial separation ear height. Showed balance working his weight to his back leg before replanting forward to start his swing. Really gets into his oblique/hip pocket at contact and shows a lot of future progression as he gains weight and strength. 4th overall in average exit velocity with 74.8 mph while walking away with 84 as his max exit velocity.

Brody Threet C / RHP / Livingston Academy, TN / 2029

As one of two 2029 class grads in attendance Sunday, Threet showed spunk in the field with smooth defensive actions with athletic ability fielding the baseball. Worked well around the ball to get early momentum going towards 1st base, while also having mobility to sink the hips working the baseball into the body from out in front of him. The arm strength should continue to develop but already holds established strength coming second in the group on the mound with 78 mph on the fastball with feel for a breaking-ball at this stage. At the plate, the hands create a lot of leverage with a quick wrist snap to lock into his load position with equally quick hands that work in tandem with fluid action firing hips. The profile should continue to fill out and wouldn’t be surprised to see him continue to take massive steps in his progression as he is still in 7th grade.

Ethan Foster SS / RHP / Wise Central, VA / 2028

The SS/RHP had a great day overall at Knoxville Catholic for our Knoxville Rising Stars ID. Foster who is 6-1. 175 lbs showed twitchy explosive movements at the plate. Has an aggressive move forward and looks to hurt the ball with backspin. The lefty produced a max 87 exit velocity with a 316 max distance. The ‘28 grad also filed up the zone on the mound, working up to 75 on the mound with a hammer curveball. Exciting swing that will do damage going forward as he gets stronger.
