Continuing our coverage of the most viewed profiles of 2023, OF Trevor Vande Hey (Wrightstown, 2025; Iowa commit) slots in at No. 7.

Vande Hey began his year at the Green Bay Preseason ID where he continued to prove himself as a high-end prospect in the state. Standing at 6-foot, 195 pounds, the right-handed outfielder posted a maximum exit velocity of 103 mph and tossed 91 mph from the outfield. The early showing from the then-sophomore was a clear indication of what was to come for the rest of 2023.

After a productive WIAA season, Vande Hey took the summer circuit by storm. Not only did he make the most out of the summer, he did it on the biggest stage of the summer, the 2023 Prep Baseball Future Games.

Vande Hey’s week in Georgia started on a high note during the mid-week workouts with a commanding performance posting a 60-yard-dash of 6.57, numerous exit velocities in the triple digits, and tossing 90 mph from the outfield. One of the clear winners of the workout portion of the week, Vande Hey rode that momentum and caught attention as Prep Baseball’s Vice President of Scouting, Shooter Hunt had this to say about him in his Future Games Standouts piece:

“The strong, 6-foot, 197-pound, barrel-chested outfielder went 3-for-7 in game play including a loud home run and a triple. There is some rawness at the plate as he looks to club balls with quick hands getting the barrel on-plane early. Given the propensity for Wisconsin prepsters to blossom later in their high school careers, Vande Hey is a name that coaches will want to circle as one to follow closely over the next 12 months."

It was truly a standout showing for Vande Hey while competing against some of the best uncommitted talent the country has to offer, cementing himself as a premier prospect in the state’s 2025 class and is currently slotted in at No. 2 in our Class of 2025 Rankings board. Here is what our staff had to say about Vande Hey in a recent Class of 2025 Rankings: Update piece:

“Vande Hey possesses arguably the state’s loudest tools, regardless of class, and he comes in at No. 2 in this update. Despite his strong 6-foot, 195-pound frame, Vande Hey has marked 60-times as low as 6.57, which speaks to just how athletic he is. His loud tools don’t stop there as he put up exit velocities up to 103.1 mph in front of our staff from an aggressive but controlled right-handed swing. This swing is not just loud during BP sessions, it works in game, too, as we have seen him collect a number of hard contact over the years, highlighted by a loud showing at this year's Future Games. His aforementioned athleticism, strong arm, which has been up to 91 mph from the outfield, and innate ability to track down fly balls, allow Vande Hey to be a legitimate center fielder at the next level, too. It is tough to find a prospect who has as advanced of a toolset that Vande Hey does in the state, maybe even the region and with still two prep seasons left, there is no telling what his ceiling could ultimately be.

Scouting Report

Vande Hey showcased the loudest and strongest tools not only in the state of Wisconsin, but on a national stage in both a workout setting and in live action. Vande Hey, presenting himself at a quick-twitch 6-foot, 195-pound frame, once again displayed his natural strength and advanced athleticism in front of our staff. It started with his 60-yard dash, where Vande Hey ranked within the top-20 with an extremely fast time of 6.57 seconds. The right-handed batter followed that up with an electric round of BP, averaging an EV of 96.8 mph, good for No. 3 overall amongst the pool of national competition. What’s even more impressive was the incoming junior posted a 101.3 mph max EV, ranking in the top-10, by far the highest for a member of Team Wisconsin in 2023. It was a simple, quiet approach, where Vande Hey allowed each pitch to travel and barreled line drives to all gaps in an effortless fashion. The smooth actions and ease that Vande Hey plays the game with showed in the outfield as well, where the true center fielder reached 90 mph to wrap up his showcase session. For some, showcase traits and tools don’t necessarily translate to gameplay; that was not the case for Vande Hey. He kicked things off with a triple to deep right field, nearly hitting a home run to the opposite field. In taking an upper-80s arm the other way, the star showcased his speed, tearing apart the base paths while beating a throw and cruising into third base. His 77 mph average bat speed was reflected in his final at bat of the weekend as well, where Vande Hey launched a home run to left-center field, banging off one of the shopping crates as people enter and exit the LakePoint Sports Complex. It summarized a legendary week for Vande Hey, as he departed from Georgia with a star next to his name, garnering one of the best skill sets among the 2025 class from a national perspective.

Shortly following July’s Future Games, Vande Hey announced his commitment to Iowa where he will join a number of other Wisconsin preps. Now heading into just his junior year, Vande Hey is coming in with a full head of steam and will look to build off of his terrific sophomore campaign come the spring.
