Sam Springer, OF, St. Xavier HS

Sam Springer is a 6-foot, 160-pound, athletic OF who had a solid season for St. Xavier last spring.  He hit .364 with 1 double, 1 triple, and 1 home run while also using his speed to steal 19 bases.

Speaking of speed, Springer showed he had plenty when he ran a 6.65 60-yard dash at the Western Kentucky Prospect ID Showcase in June, establishing himself as one of the fastest prospects in Kentucky’s 2014 class.  He shows athletic outfield actions and plays through the ball well with 84 mph arm strength with on-line carry.

At the plate, the line-drive type hitter displays some hand quickness and the ability to produce line-drives to all fields.  His exit velocity off the tee jumped from 80 mph in June to 86 mph at the Unsigned Senior Games in August.

Springer is currently ranked No.77 in Kentucky’s 2014 class.
