Our 2023 fall schedule of events have ended, as prospects across the state are now gearing up for the spring high school baseball season.  Our goal this fall was to get out to different parts of the state to identify prospects that have made jumps since the summer, as well as lay eyes on up-and-coming prospects.  We executed two open events this fall with our Lake Charles Fall ID at Barbe High School and our Baton Rouge Fall ID at Catholic (BR) High School.  In addition to those open events, we also had two invite-only events with our Senior Games at LSU-Eunice, which was for uncommitted 2024 prospects and our State Games at LSU, which was comprised of the best and brightest prospects from the state's 2024-2027 classes.  As with every fall season, there were familiar faces who continued to show well, as well as new prospects who really increased their stock.  Today, we take a look back at some of the top position players that we saw this fall from the state's 2026 and 2027 classes.

POSITION PLAYERS (2026 & 2027 CLASS)

+ 2026 MIF Dominic Pellegrin (Holy Cross HS)

Athletic 5'10" 150 lbs. frame.  It was evident at player check-in, on Saturday morning of the State Games, that Pellegrin has definitely gained strength over the last twelve months, and it showed in his metrics.  Pellegrin dropped his 60 time by nearly a half-second down to a 7.41 and increased his arm strength across the diamond by +5 mph to 82 mph.  His exit velocity also increased from a year ago by +5 mph to 89.2 mph.  At the plate, the Holy Cross HS product is one of the more aggressive hitters in the state.  If the baseball is thrown over the white part of the plate, he is swinging and he usually doesn't miss, which was the case at the State Games, as Pellegrin produced multiple hits with one being a double in the left-centerfield gap.

+ 2026 INF/RHP Miller Sheets (Sterlington HS)

6'2" 175 lbs. frame with broad shoulders and a lot of room to tack on weight.  This was the first time that we'd seen the Sterlington HS product at one of our events, since his 7th grade year.  Sheets works from an upright and slightly open stance at the plate with a modified leg kick load and stride, before dropping a direct path to the baseball.  Hitting into a stiff wind, he drove several pitches to the pull-side with a max exit velocity of 95 mph.  He also showed a strong arm across the diamond at 88 mph with backspin and carry.  Sheets also provided a glimpse at his upside on the mound with a heavier FB up to 85 mph with arm-side run with feel for a quality late-fading CH and a developing SL. 

+ 2026 OF Braylen Montgomery (Walker HS)

Projectable 6'3" 175 lbs. frame with long limbs.  The Walker HS product continued to show that he has one of the highest upsides in the state's sophomore class.  On a slower track, he used long and graceful strides to record a 6.81 laser-timed 60 yard dash, which was good for a Top 5 finish at the event.  He also showed a strong arm from the outfield, up to 88 mph.  At the plate, Montgomery works from a tall and upright stance and uses a toe-tap load to get to center.  His quick hands works short to long through the baseball on a linear path, which helped him drive the baseball to the middle of the field really well with a max exit velocity of 96.2 mph.  

+ 2026 OF Kross Gillen (Opelousas Catholic HS)

Physical 6'2" 185 lbs. frame.  Gillen proved to be one of the better overall athletes at the State Games in the 2026 class.  The Opelousas Catholic HS product flashed a strong and accurate arm from the outfield at 87 mph.  His BP was impressive as well, as he took controlled, yet aggressive hacks with a direct path to the ball and uphill extension.  Gillen impacted the ball really well up the middle and to the pull-side gap with a max exit velocity of 94.6 mph.  He's a really good uncommitted sophomore to follow in the state moving forward. 

+ 2026 INF Lane Mixon (University Lab HS)

5'11" 180 lbs. athletic frame with present physicality.  Mixon continues to show well and trend in the right direction with each look that we've at him.  The University Lab HS product drove the ball from gap to gap with a simple and repeatable swing, while recording a 92.8 mph max exit velocity.  He showed present bat speed as well, as evidenced by his 73.4 mph max bat speed via Blast Motion, which ranked him fifth best at the State Games.  Mixon performed well in gameplay on Sunday, as he went 2-2 with a 2B and a RBI at the plate, which earned him Offensive Player of the Game honors.

+ 2027 INF/RHP Koa Romero (Hahnville HS)

Physical 5'10" 195 lbs. stout frame.  The Hahnville HS product showed well on the big stage in his first PBR event.  Romero keeps it simple from the left-side of the plate and uses a strong lower-half to turn the barrel aggressively to contact, while staying through the plane of each pitch.  He showed present pull-side power in BP that resulted in a 93 mph max exit velocity, and he competed well in his in game at-bats against some of the better arms that he's faced in his young career.  Romero also offers upside on the mound, as he flashed a FB up to 84 mph with spin rates up to 2543 RPM's. 

+ 2026 INF Konner Boudreaux (St. Louis Catholic HS)

6'1" 165 lbs. physical frame with room to continue to add strength.  The St. Louis Catholic HS product was one of the top overall performers of the day and is a sophomore prospect to monitor moving forward.  Offensively, Boudreaux keeps it super simple with a quiet set-up and load delivering a direct path to contact, while staying on-plane through extension, maintaining balance from start to finish.  He showed present power to the pull-side with a max exit velocity of 91.6 mph.  On the infield, Boudreaux flashed crisp and clean actions with an accurate arm across the diamond.

+ 2026 C Layne Baguex (Lacassine HS)

Physical 6'2" 185 lbs. frame.  Baguex showed some of the best raw power on the day, as he led the event in average exit velocity at 91.9 mph and max exit velocity at 93.9 mph, which is impressive for a sophomore.  The swing is still a bit raw at the moment, but there's no denying the present strength and ability to drive the ball to the pull-side.  From the crouch, the Lacassine HS product showed that he's an adequate receiver and blocker with a strong arm up to 75 mph behind the dish with pop times in the 2.16-2.33 range.

+ 2026 OF Michael Brothers (Jesuit HS)

Athletic 5’10” 160 lbs. frame with plenty of room to pack on more weight.  The Jesuit HS product kicked the day off by showing his athleticism, as he posted an event-best 6.68 laser-timed 60.  During BP, he showcased a flat swing from the left-side with an up the middle to pull-side gap approach with a max exit velocity of 91.8 mph.

+ 2026 1B Luke McAdams (Northlake Christian HS)

Physical and imposing 6’3” 240 lbs frame.  The Northlake Christian HS product took one of the louder BP rounds of the day, especially for a sophomore.  McAdams swings the bat with controlled intent, aggressively turning his lower-half to deliver heavy barrel to contact with strong wrists and forearms, while recording a 94 mph max exit velocity.  He also moved well around the 1B bag during his defensive work, and is a sophomore with power potential that we look forward to seeing more of in the future.
