Trey Nordmann RHP / DeWitt, MI / 2019Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 7
DEWITT - Who knew that playing on a summer team in Indiana would lead Trey Nordmann to the Hoosier state for college? In fact, the DeWitt High School senior will be right at home after making a commitment to Evansville, the same city where the Razorbacks summer team is located. “They came into the picture about a month before Jupiter,” Nordmann said in reference to recent fall ball in Florida. “My summer team reached out to Evansville and I began talking to (pitching) coach (A.J.) Gaura. After I did well in Jupiter, I went on a visit (Nov. 3) and they liked me a lot.” The 6-3 200-pound right-hander performed up to his ability in two games in Jupiter. “It went well,” Nordmann noted. “My first outing was okay and my second went really well. I threw 1.1 innings against the Reds Scout team. I faced five hitters and gave up one hit with three strikeouts. They had 22 Division I guys and I faced the middle of the order.” Evansville came away impressed. “They like my mindset as far as how hard working I am,” the 17th-rated senior in Michigan said. “Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I drive one-and-a-half hours to do Driveline. They like how driven I am to be good at the game and how developed my secondary pitch, my curve, is.” Nordmann has recently added a third pitch to his arsenal. “My changeup was pretty good in Jupiter,” Nordmann said. “It’s almost there, but not quite.” Improvement has been made elsewhere besides the addition of another pitch. |
