On August 29th we hosted the Unsigned Senior Games at Hendrix College. We had a pro-style work out and then played a 9 inning game that featured 18 different pitchers. Here is the scouting reports of the top right-handers from the event.

Brent Southerland, RHP, Bigelow HS
Southerland is a 5-foot-11 205-pound right-hander with a medium frame and a physical build. He pounded the strike zone with a fastball of 85-88 up to 89 mph with slight sink. He complimented the fastball with a curveball 71-74 mph with 11/5 shape. He repeats his mechanics allowing him to consistently throw strikes. He pitches from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick arm with some stiffness. Overall Southerland is a physical pitcher with a good fastball and a feel to pitch. He should be ready to pitch collegiately next year.

Jon Youngblood, RHP, Lakeside HS
Youngblood is a 6-foot 200-pound right-hander with a large-frame and an average build. He works from a low ¾ arm slot with a loose arm. He commanded his fastball 83-85 mph up to 86 mph with late sink. He showed advanced pitchability locating two off speed pitches, a change up and Frisbee breaking ball. His changeup was thrown with fastball arm speed and arm side run. The breaking ball was thrown 74-76 mph with late sharp break. He repeats his mechanics he would benefit from loading his hips more and using his lower half more aggressively. Overall he is an advanced pitcher with some projectability.

Grant Pritchard, RHP, Pocahontas HS
Pritchard is a 6-foot-2 185-pound right-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. He works from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm. He pitched off his fastball 81-83 mph touching 84 mph. He commanded both sides of the plate. He does a sound job repeating his mechanics with an effortless delivery. He would benefit from getting more extension to home plate. Overall Pritchard is a projectable right-hander with a large frame and a clean arm.

Chase Kyzer, RHP, Cabot HS
Kyzer is a 6-foot 200-pound right-hander with a large frame and an average build. He has repeatable mechanics with limited drive off of his lower half. His arm action has some deception to it. He pitches from an over-the top arm slot. His fastball was 83-85 mph with late life through the strike zone. His fastball plays with more velocity due to a wipe out slider at 75-76 mph with sharp late break. Overall Kyzer is a solid right-hander with a wipe out slider and a deceptive arm action.
