It was a rough day for starting pitching at Carlo Crispino Stadium where No. 2 Calvert Hall hosted Bel Air in an early season non-conference mid-week game. Cardinals uncommitted 2021 Tyler Wright lasted only one-third of an inning walking four of the five batters he faced. Bel Air capitalized on the walks to jump out to an early 6-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The six runs were scored with only one hit.

The lead wouldn’t last long however, as the Cardinals answered in a big way scoring thirteen runs in the bottom half. Austin Rohlfing (Harford CC) got the start for Bel Air and struggled as well to find his command walking the first three batters of the game. Once Rohlfing did find the strike zone, Calvert Hall started hitting and blew the doors off batting around the lineup twice in the inning.

Uncommitted 2019 Kasey Baumgart kept Bel Air in check pitching in releif for the Cardinals through the middle innings of the shortened run-rule game. Baumgart went three and two-thirds allowing just one run on one hit and two walks. He struck out three Bobcats batters doing a great job of mixing up his pitches and keeping them off-balanced at the plate with his off-speed.

Calvert Hall tacked on four more in the second and third and following a scoreless 4th inning, Scott Borgmann came in to close it out for the Cardinals in the top of the 5th. Borgmann struck out two and left one runner stranded as the No. 2 Cardinals defeated the visiting Bel Air Bobcats by a final of 17-7 in 5 innings.

Garrett McIlhenney (2-for-3, 2 RBI's, 3 R's), Jose Torres (2-for-4, 2 RBI's, 4 R's), Parker Landwehr (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 R's), Antonio Barranca (1-for-4, 2 RBI's, 2 R's), Pete Marchineck (2-for-4, 2RBI's, 2 R's), Alex Khan (1-for-3, 2 RBI's, 1 R), and Frankie Wight (1-for-3, 1 R) all had big days at the plate for the Cardinals.
