INF Nathan Negre (Berean Christian Academy, 2024) first popped to our staff at Creekside in 2022 when he launched a no-doubt home run in the rain at the Midwest Premier Super 16.

Since then, Negre has done nothing but trend up as a prospect, showing high end bat speed and athleticism from the right side. His power plays up from his stature, he's listed at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds, and Negre has proven to our staff he's a likely offensive asset at the next level over a few in-game looks throughout the past two summers. Exactly one year to the date of our first look at him, Negre homered again at Creekside, this time at the Super 17.

We recently had the opportunity to talk with Negre on his recruiting process, why he chose Central Arkansas,and what advice he would give to up-and-coming baseball players, among other things. You'll find our full discourse below.

OUR Q&A

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Negre: Somewhere where the coaches genuinely cared about my family and my personal life as much as my baseball life. 

PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

Negre: No

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Negre: Sophomore summer, we played a tournament at Central Arkansas and played pretty well. They invited me to a camp and offered me.

PBR: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Negre: Definitely the family feel there. The whole coaching staff is just great. Definitely the coaching staff and the facilities to grind and get better.

PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

Negre: Definitely wanted to take the junior college route to maybe get drafted after a year, but couldn’t pass up on the offer Central Arkansas gave me - Fort Scott CC and Crowder JC.

PBR: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

Negre: He is a year older but for sure LHP Adam Hachman (Timberland, 2023; Arkansas). Dude is just nasty.

PBR: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Negre: When Central Arkansas offered me. It gave me a feeling of I got a chance, and just have been working harder ever since.

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Negre: Baseball is for sure the most mentally challenging game. So be patient in the process and know your going to have bad days, and if you work hard good things will come.
