The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar has turned over and the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season is quickly approaching we are highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '24 Class Rankings and remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior season.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our PBR California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a '24 OF/LHP Gavin Malcomson out of Linfield Christian in Southern California. Medium frame at 5'11 180 lbs. with room to add strength to the frame while maintaining his solid athleticism or improving it. Runs a 7.2 60 time with a good running stride there is CF potential if the athleticism trends up, but will be able to handle LF while having the arm strength/accuracy to play RF potentially. The LH hitting Malcomson is carried by a good offensive profile with a quick swing (24 MPH hand speed and 69.9 MPH bat speed) that shows leverage in the path and good use of hips to start the turn with balance at contact. His approach is geared to the middle of the field with doubles power through the gaps 89.5 MPH max exit velocity while averaging 82.1 MPH and 324' max distance. As a LH hitter with a feel to hit and developing power, plus potential to play all 3 OF spots at the next level will make Malcomson a good land for a 4-year program late in the process or for a JUCO program where he can continue to develop.
