Blast Motion Leaderboard: Lake Charles Preseason ID

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Moss Bluff, LA - The Lake Charles Preseason ID was held on Sunday January 21, 2024, at Sam Houston High School, home of the Sam Houston Broncos.  This was our last event of the preseason and consisted of uncommitted prospects from the 2024-2027 high school classes.  All players in attendance went through an extended pro-style workout, that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast, the 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more.  After the completion of the workout, all pitchers were able to throw a bullpen using Trackman Baseball to capture critical data and metrics such as fastball velocity, vertical/horizontal break, spin rate, and much more.

Today, with the help of one of our tech partners, Blast Motion, we continue our post-event coverage with a closer look at the top Blast Motion metrics and data from the Lake Charles Preseason ID.

Body Rotation: A swing that has the appropriate relative contributions of body and bat rotations is an efficient and Powerful swing that maintains proper sequencing. An efficient baseball swing is one in which the body creates the initial movements, which is then transferred to the arms and out to the bat, thereby maximizing Bat Speed through this proximal-to-distal kinematic sequencing movement pattern.
