Throughout the course of the fall, the PBR Missouri staff hosted various different JUCO Scout Days with multiple different programs scattered across the 'Show Me' state.

These events offered players from their respective junior colleges to participate in a pro-style workout in front of our staff, gathering unrivaled data in the process through the help of our state-of-the-art tech partners. Players received verified up-to-date statistics, TrackMan and Blast Motion data, and high quality video of their workouts that can be found within each individual player profile.

Now, with the fall coming to a close and the baseball calendar transitioning into the off-season, our staff will be spending the next few weeks highlighting several names-to-know from our fall JUCO circuit.

Below, you'll learn more about a multitude of sophomore arms that showed well at our events this fall and are still on the market.

Matthew Brown SS / Oakville, MO / 2022 From 9/5/23: "...showed well on both sides of the ball at this event. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound sophomore kicked his day off by running a 6.86 60, the third fastest time of this group, and he finished second on our infield throwing velocity leaderboard (T87 mph), too. Offensively, Brown works uphill to the baseball from a rotational left-handed swing that flashed bat strength, leaving the yard to right field on his furthest batted ball (345 feet) in BP. He hopped on the mound afterwards, pitching at 84-86 mph with his fastball, spinning a 71-73 mph curveball at 2600+ RPM for strikes, and effectively killing spin (T1444 RPM) on a 75-77 mph changeup."

Connor Jackson RHP / Freeburg Community, IL / 2022 From 9/5/23: "...stands at a proportionally strong 6-foot-2, 190-pounds with an intriguing three-pitch mix to pair. Jackson’s fastball touched 87 mph, pitching at 84-86 mph from a lower release height on average (4.7 ft.) while spinning at 2400+ RPM. His slider flashed noticeable lateral action, 15.8 inches of horizontal movement, at 71-74 mph, and it averaged 2451 RPM, too. Jackson rounded out his arsenal with a 74-75 mph changeup with minimal spin (T1492 RPM) and lift (T4.8” IVB), while averaging 14.8” of horizontal movement out of a similar arm angle to his fastball."

Nick Bassi RHP / Cathedral, IN / 2022 From 9/5/23: "...toes the rubber at a physically proportionate 6-foot-3, 215-pounds, and is another arm with power stuff on this staff. Bassi’s fastball may be his most interesting offering, as it plays in the upper-80s, touching 90.3 mph in this ‘pen, with true four-seam backspin (19.7” IVB avg.) from a high release point on average. He pairs that with a 76-80 mph slider and 74-75 mph curveball that each flash above-average action when thrown with fastball intent."

Andrew Sharpe RHP / Parkway Central, MO / 2022 From 9/5/23: "...is another sophomore arm to follow on this Cougars’ staff. The 6-foot, 185-pound Sharpe pumped his fastball in the upper-80s, touching 90 mph twice, and working around the zone at times. Though he didn’t land his breaking ball for strikes consistently in this look, Sharpe’s 73-76 mph curveball did flash sharp action at times and has the potential to be an above-average offering should he spot it around the zone more often. He rounded out his arsenal with a firm cutter at 84-86 mph."

Cameron Marchi RHP / Jackson, MO / 2022 From 9/5/23: "...tossed 30 ⅔ innings last spring and punched out 38 over that span. At 6-foot-3, 215-pounds, Marchi’s fastball played around the zone at 85-86 mph with straight four-seam action. He spun a firm 78-79 mph slider at 2400+ RPM on average to the glove-side corner of the plate with tight, bullet-like spin. Marchi also showed a straight changeup at 80-81 mph that he threw from a slightly lower release angle, on average, than his fastball."

Jude Tenny LHP / Lafayette, MO / 2022 From 9/5/23: "...is a pitchability southpaw that filled up the zone with three pitches during his ‘pen as well as in the live BP session of this event. A quick worker with rhythm, Tenny’s fastball played in the low-to-mid-80s, touching 85.9 mph, with carry at times (T20.7” IVB) from a short, continuous high ¾ slot. Tenny’s confident in his slider, spinning it at 73-75 mph for strikes consistently with depth and late break at times. He also showed advanced feel for a 78-79 mph changeup, throwing it at fastball arm speed and slot with natural fading action while killing both spin and lift."

Jameson Strozier RHP / Lebanon, IL / 2022 From 9/5/23: "...is a 6-foot-3, 250-pound sophomore with an aptitude to spin the baseball. Strozier’s fastball sat at 87-88 mph, touching 89 mph once, and he spun a 76-78 mph breaking ball off it with sharp, power spin at 2500+ RPM on average."

Billy Underwood RHP / Helias, MO / 2022 From 9/6/23: "...returns a bulk of innings to the Falcons’ pitching staff, hurling 37 ⅔ frames last spring. At 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, Underwood’s fastball played in the low-to-mid-80s in this ‘pen, touching 85.8 mph, and he spun a 68-71 mph curveball with some depth off it as well."

Adam DeBoer RHP / Beatrice, NE / 2022 From 9/6/23: "...heater played at 83-85 mph as well, complimenting it with a 72-73 mph curveball and straight changeup at 76-78 mph."

Hayden Steelman RHP / Southern Boone, MO / 2022 From 9/6/23: "... logged 28 ⅓ innings on the mound last spring, pitched at 83-85 mph with his fastball in his ‘pen, while flashing feel to spin a curveball (69-71 mph) and slider (72-75 mph)."

Zachary Stenger RHP / Northwest Cedar Hill, MO / 2022 From 9/6/23: "...showed above-average feel to spin a breaking ball in this look. Stenger’s 72-74 mph curveball averaged 2630 RPM, peaking at 2798 RPM, with sharp action and tilt at times. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound sophomore’s fastball played in the low-80s, touching 84 mph."

Ashton Branson RHP / Sheridan, AR / 2022 From 10/16/23: "...returns a team-high 77 ⅓ innings of work from last season, punching out 109 batters, while walking 35, with a 3.72 ERA in that span. At 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, Branson pumped his fastball for strikes at an easy 91-92 mph throughout his ‘pen. Branson threw his changeup near fastball arm speed at 77-78 mph with natural running action, and he spun a 76-77 mph curveball with depth for strikes to the arm-side corner of the plate. Branson figures to be another anchor for Crowder’s pitching staff in his sophomore season."

Aaron Arnold RHP / Bentonville West, AR / 2022 From 10/16/23: "...led the event in max fastball velocity, touching 95 on his firmest bullet, while pitching at 92-94 mph throughout his ‘pen. His heater flashed carry traits, working from a lower release height on average (4.8 ft.) while reaching 17 inches of vertical break at peak. Arnold’s changeup played with power swing-and-miss sink at 86-87 mph and he threw it with intent from the same arm window as his fastball. He showed two different breaking balls; a gradual, more arching curveball at 69-71 mph, and a firm, more convicted slider at 77-79 mph. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound sophomore will look to build off a freshman campaign where he punched out 37 batters over 24 ⅔ innings of work with a 1.82 ERA."

Austin Jobe RHP / El Dorado, AR / 2022 From 10/16/23: "...punched out 43, with just 14 walks, in 34 ⅓ innings as a freshman last spring for the Roughriders. A wiry 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete, Jobe’s fastball played at 90-92 mph in this look, working with jump/life out of the hand to the arm-side corner of the plate. Jobe spun his slider for strikes at 76-79 mph with tight shape and late break, averaging 2461 RPM. He rounded out his arsenal with a low spin (T1391 RPM) and low lift (T6.6” VB) changeup at 80-81 mph that played with subtle fade from a similar arm window to his fastball."

Rhett Richardson RHP / El Dorado, AR / 2022 From 10/16/23: "...owns prototypical starter’s size, toeing the rubber at 6-foot-4, 205-pounds. His fastball played in the low-90s, touching 92 mph at peak. He showed feel to spin a 78-80 mph slider for strikes, and it's a pitch that plays well with his fastball when spotted up in the zone. Richardson rounded out his three pitch mix with a changeup that flashed arm-side run at 83-84 mph."

Jacob Pannell RHP / Fayetteville , AR / 2022 From 10/16/23: "...holds strength on a 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame and was another strong-armed follow from this event, pitching at 89-91 mph with a straight four-seam fastball. He slider flashed sweep at 77-80 mph (T2363 RPM) and he showed a firm changeup at 85-86 mph with natural arm-side action at times."

Cooper Crouch RHP / Webb City, MO / 2022 From 10/16/23: "...who stands at 6-foot, 215-pounds, pumped his fastball at 89-90 mph with jump out the hand from a short, tight arm window (T2449 RPM). He complimented it with a cutter at 84-87 mph and 81-83 mph changeup."

Andrew Brakensiek RHP / Francis Howell, MO / 2024 From 9/13/23: "...6-foot-2, 192-pounds. Returns after tossing 40 1/3 innings as a freshman last year. Long arm swing, 3/4 finish. Fastball touched 89, played at 87-88 mph with slight arm-side run. Landed slider for strikes, 76-78 mph."

Ty Stanley RHP / State Fair Community College, MO / 2022 From 9/13/23: "...6-foot-1, 183-pounds with strength throughout. Athletic mover on the mound. Fastball sat 87-88 mph in his 'pen, straight four-seam movement. Showed a cutter at 79-82 mph with late action at times. Also spun a more gradual slider, 69-71 mph, and turned over a changeup at 74-77 mph."
