Mountain View, CA - On a cold, windy and wet evening more than 15 scouts were on hand to view a couple of the top 2019 names for an early season view and were treated to a very good pitchers matchup. St. Francis was able to pull it out with a 1-0 victory over Santa Cruz with both pitchers getting out of trouble and limiting damage throughout the game.

'20 LHP Gianluca Shinn got the start for St. Francis and after back-to-back singles from Santa Cruz '19 SS GJ Hill and 1B Javi Felix, was able to pitch the Lancers out of danger. He cruised through the next 4 innings before getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the 6th inning preserving the 1-0 lead. St. Francis had multiple opportunities to score runs, leaving runners on in the 1st, 3rd and 4th inning before finally getting on the board in the 5th inning. They started that inning with a hit-by-pitch, followed by a passed ball and an infield single. '19 DH Elijah Ricks drove a ball deep to CF with a Sac Fly and that would be all the runs in this one. Santa Cruz left a runner on 3rd in the Top of the 7th, with a bang-bang play at first ending the game and giving St. Francis their 6th win of the season.

Let's look at the players who stood out.
