Idaho Falls Preseason ID: Quick Hits

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

On Saturday, February 10th, the Prep Baseball Idaho staff hosted the year with the Idaho Falls Preseason ID. This event featured a ton of uncommitted talent among the players in attendance, including several unsigned seniors who should be on the radar of college coaches as the 2024 class continues roll off the board.

Like all of our events, players participated in a pro-style workout in front of our staff and collected unrivaled data in the process through our top-of-the-line tech partners. These events also serve as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Idaho State Games, Future Games, Jr. Future Games, West Coast Games, West Coast Pro Case and more.

Now, at the event’s conclusion, our staff has combed through our notes from the day and put together these ‘Quick Hits’. Below you will learn more about the prospects that stood out from the Idaho Falls Preseason ID.

Idaho Falls Preseason ID: Quick Hits

Will Chappell OF / RHP / Sugar Salem , ID / 2025

The BYU commit has put up massive numbers each time out with us and the Idaho Falls Preseason ID was no different. A major focus for Chappell has been to improve his speed to be able to stay in CF at the next level and he did just that with a new personal best, 6.90 Swift Performance Timed 60. The improved 60 Time could only be outdone by his electric BP Session where he posted an ELITE 108.1 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity with a 100.9 mph Average Exit Velocity. Chappell will be a player to keep an eye on this Spring as huge piece for Sugar Salem and should begin to start drawing pro attention heading into the Summer.

Dawson McInelly SS / OF / Sugar Salem, ID / 2025

Arguably one of the best athletes in Idaho, regardless of class or sport, McInelly threw up multiple event bests and did so with somewhat ease. The West Coast Games alumni and Utah Tech commit plays with bounce throughout his game and his transition to exclusively play the outfield has helped take his game to another level as he projects to stay at the CF position for the Trailblazers. The tools throughout his game were on full display with event best in Swift Timed 60’s - 6.84 and Outfield Velocity - 90, then produced a loud BP Session that saw his Exit Velocity up to 100.9 mph via TrackMan.

Cooper Thompson 1B / 3B / Twin Falls , ID / 2025

Thompson is a player we expect to be off the board very soon after recruiting opens on August 1. Now standing in at a stout 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Thompson maintains lightness in his feet with underway speed at improved range defensively. At the plate, we are seeing his power potential now turning into present power with a Max TrackMan Exit Velocity of 104.1 and an Average Exit Velocity of 98.1 mph, proving that the power is both real and consistent.

Tarik Allen RHP / SS / Hillcrest, ID / 2024

One of the biggest winners at the Idaho Falls Preseason ID, Allen showed significant improvements on both sides of the ball with one of the days top batting practice session that saw him produce the #3 ranked TrackMan Exit Velocity of 102.6 mph. Stayin in his lower half and improved understanding how to use his present physicality have translated not only at the plate, but on the mound as well. Allen saw his velocity steadily climb throughout his bullpen session, topping out at 88.1 mph, via TrackMan, with seemingly much more in the tank, relying heavily on athleticism in his delivery, a more polished/consistent delivery will helps him tap into his potential as a pitcher.

Jackson Gardner RHP / SS / Sugar Salem, ID / 2025

The multi-sport athlete and 2023 Future Games alum has worked to improve his delivery to be more consistent and utilize his legs more and you could see the progress during his bullpen session at the Idaho Falls Preseason ID. The biggest separator for Gardner is the spin he is able to generate with the velocity steadily coming and expected to be into the mid-upper 80’s this Spring. With is slider already tabbed as his premium pitch with spins having reached into the 2700+ rmp area, his changeup showed the most improvement with heavier arm side action and improved feel being able to tunnel it off of his fastball more consistently.

Greyson Martin SS / RHP / Bonneville , ID / 2025

Another winner at the Idaho Falls Preseason ID was Bonneville product, Greyson Martin. The Uncommitted middle infielder has put in serious work in the weight room over the past 6 months to get his body to a level that is ready to transition to the collegiate level. He produced new personal bests in each metric category that applied to him with an 6.85 Swift Time 60, an 82 mph IF Velocity with improved lateral range and a 92 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity while showing improved feel for the barrel that stays long through the zone, producing line drive after line drive throughout his round.

Anthony Morales OF / 3B / Idaho Falls , ID / 2025

Morales has steadily proven himself a player to have on your radar in Idaho’s 2025 Class with his frame now beginning to fill out, his game is trending as he heads into his junior season. The physical improvements translated at the Idaho Falls Preseason ID where he produced a number of personal best, TrackMan Exit Velocity - 95 mph and Swift 60 Times - 7.07. The Idaho Falls product is projected to have his break out Spring in 2024 and we expect the attention around Morales to grow throughout the season heading into a big Summer.

Treagen Orr RHP / 1B / Madison, ID / 2027

A player we were told to keep an eye out for heading into the event, Orr proved exactly why with one of the top bullpen sessions of the event. The lean, 6-foot-0 freshman has present looseness in his arm that helped produce arm side action on both his fastball (Max IVB - 15 in, Max HM - 15.9 in) and changeup (Max HM - 15.1 in). Coming out of a ¾ to low ¾ slot, the fastball ran up to 83.7 mph with seemingly more in the tank, projecting it add a few more ticks up as things warm up this Spring. His curveball is still in development, but the pitch shape is there with spin and velocity to come and allow for better tunnel of his fastball.

Easton Cannon SS / RHP / Blackfoot , ID / 2025

The Uncommitted Junior has another prospect to keep tabs on heading into the Spring for Blackfoot. With consistent improvements made throughout his game each time out with us, Cannon seems to be a player who is just starting to scratch the surface of what is to come.

Tommy Woodcock C / 3B / Sugar Salem , ID / 2024

The South Mountain recruit was a late add to the Idaho Falls Preseason ID, but he made the most of this event with a number of personal bests being produced. The obvious added physical strength was on display during his batting practice session where he produced a loud round with a 101.4 mph Max Exit Velocity via TrackMan. He then posted a 1.94 Pop Time with accurate throws around the bag with carry. Woodcock is a blue collar type player with the grit that will translate well to the next level and beyond.
