Uncommitted Spotlight: Blake Jacklin

Blake Jacklin OF / SS / Elmira District, ON / 2020

Background: Jacklin, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound outfielder/shortstop is a member of the Great Lake Canadians. He was a standout performer at our New Year Open, racking up some of the top numbers in multiple categories. From the left side of the batter's box, Jacklin displays the actions and consistency you like to see. He starts square and relaxed, then uses a leg-kick where he gains a little ground and lets his direct path and flat plane result in hard-hit balls up to 90 mph. In the outfield, he reads the hop and breaks it down early fielding and throwing with intent up to 83 mph. With athleticism, he shows the ability to handle shortstop although at this point it’s raw and he’s better off in the outfield. Jacklin is also a 6.89 runner which easily translates to the outfield. The 2020 grad is currently ranked in our top 15 from the 20’ class as there is some present strength with room to add more as he matures, Jacklin could be a major breakout candidate in 2019 and one we look forward to watching in games soon.
