With the year coming to an end, our staff is taking some time to highlight and reflect on the most viewed profiles in Missouri throughout 2023. We’ll be working our way to the top spot, starting with No. 10 earlier today, and working our way down, releasing the most viewed name prior to the end of the year.

We’ll start our countdown today with UTL Tytus Cissell (Francis Howell, 2024; Missouri commit), who’s profile earned the 10th most views across this past year.

Cissell’s prospect status as a whole skyrocketed in 2023, vaulting himself to eighth overall on our state rankings and, more importantly, within the top-150 nationally. It all started last off-season for Cissell, as he added noticeable muscle mass and size onto his presently listed 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame. That helped him turn in a stellar spring season - one that helped Francis Howell finish as Class 6 runner-ups while producing a .396/.462/.540 triple-slash and 24 stolen bases over 164 plate appearances.

His production and upward trend didn’t end there, as Cissell caught plenty of positive momentum early on in the summer with the Royals Scout Team over multiple stops. He turned heads and performed at the National Program Invitational, USA Baseball Tournament in North Carolina, and at Creekside for the Midwest Premier Super 17.

Cissell’s ability to impact the game in multiple ways is essentially what stands out the most. A switch hitter, Cissell’s comfortable hitting to all fields from both sides of the plate and his aforementioned added physicality has started to produce more extra-base hits as well. His double-plus speed plays a factor in all of this as well, though it’s not just his burst out of the box. Cisselll plays at full 100% effort at all times, allowing his already advanced run tool to play up even more so. This three at-bat sequence from a summer look sticks out in particular - he bunted for a hit in his first trip to the plate, legged out an infield grounder the following one, and then sprayed a 95 mph fastball to the opposite field for a single.

Headed to the Super 60 in February, Cissell has a real chance to come away from the winter’s premier scouting event as an arrow-up name that professional scouts will need to follow into the spring and beyond. Cissell appears to just be scratching the surface of his future self - he’s an S Tier athlete with high-end makeup that has a proven track record at the plate while also being able to adequately play multiple spots defensively on the diamond.
