Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri

With the year coming to an end, our staff is taking some time to highlight and reflect on the most viewed profiles in Missouri throughout 2023. We’ll be counting down to the top spot, starting with No. 10 earlier in the week working our way down, releasing the most viewed name prior to the end of the year.

Our profiles serve as an all-in-one platform for players, hosting vendors such as verified stats, event video, contact information, and more. To create a free PBR profile, click HERE.

We've already released three stories, which you can find here:

+ No. 10 Tytus Cissell
+ No. 9 Drew Dickerson
+ No. 8 Trey Snyder
+ No. 7 Kade Durnin
+ No. 6 Leo Humbert

We’ll keep making our way to No. 1 on our list today with the fifth most viewed profile in the state this year, RHP Henry Vedder (St. Francis Borgia, 2026).

Vedder greatly boosted his prospect stock in 2023, largely due to the fact that he improved marginally in each of our looks this year. It started at the A’s Scout Day in February, where Vedder’s fastball played in the low-80s and he showed feel for both of his secondaries, particularly a slider that he consistently spun ofr strikes at 67-70 mph.

(2/22/23)

Following the high school season, Vedder attended the Top Prospect Games: Underclass in early June at Atkins Field where he was one of the top 2026 arms in attendance. Aside from his efforts on the mound, Vedder looked the part at the plate in this look too, and he earned himself a spot in the state’s 2026 rankings as a result.

From 6/12/23: “...saw playing time on the state runner-up Knights as a freshman and has a projectable skill-set on both sides of the ball. Vedder stands at a long-limbed 6-foot-4, 165-pounds, though he controls his levers down the mound well, repeating his delivery with enough present consistency that should only improve as he gets older. Vedder’s fastball played in the low-80s, touching 83.8 mph, from one of the highest release points on average (6.7 ft) of the entire event. He spun his breaking ball with intent at 69-71 mph and spotted it for strikes consistently from a similar arm window to his fastball. Vedder swung an athletic right-handed barrel in BP, using his long levers to drive a few deep to the pull-side, including a 333 ft. max.”

(6/6/23)

Vedder’s best showing in front of our staff to date came at the A’s Scout Day in late September, however. His fastball climbed up to 86 mph, playing at 83-85 mph over his brief stint, and he showed true legitimate secondaries - a tighter slider with real swing-and-miss action at times, and a tumbling, devastating splitter that grabbed multiple uncomfortable swings. Already regarded as a follow arm in the class, Vedder rose up to 20th overall in the state’s 2026 rankings following this event.

From 9/26/23: “...was one of the day’s biggest takeaways, leaving this event as an arrow-up prospect in the state’s sophomore class. Built at a lanky, long-limbed 6-foot-4, 170-pounds, Vedder showed a power three-pitch mix, grabbing uncomfortable swings-and-misses with his entire arsenal over a two-inning stint. His fastball played with carry up in the zone at 83-85, touching 86 mph, from a tight, compact arm window. Vedder’s best secondary pitch in this look was a true tumbling splitter that showed power swing-and-miss bite at 74-77 mph. He showed hard horizontal action on a 71-75 mph slider too, though he’s still fully developing feel for the pitch. Vedder is a high ceiling arm with all sorts of upside in the state’s 2026 class.”

(9/23/23)

Vedder owns one of the higher ceilings on the bump in the class and, heading into his junior year, figures to only continue to improve as his high school career progresses as one of the more prominent arms in the state’s 2026 class.
