Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri

With the year coming to an end, our staff is taking some time to highlight and reflect on the most viewed profiles in Missouri throughout 2023. We’ll be counting down to the top spot, starting with No. 10 earlier in the week working our way down, releasing the most viewed name prior to the end of the year.

Our profiles serve as an all-in-one platform for players, hosting vendors such as verified stats, event video, contact information, and more. To create a free PBR profile, click HERE.

We've already released three stories, which you can find here:

+ No. 10 Tytus Cissell
+ No. 9 Drew Dickerson
+ No. 8 Trey Snyder

We’ll keep making our way to No. 1 on our list today with the seventh most viewed profile in the state this year, RHP Kade Durnin (Camdenton, 2024; Texas Christian).

Already a formidable prospect in his own right prior to this year, and a PBR Future Games alumni, Durnin took his prospect status to a completely new level in 2023. It started at the US Nationals Scout Day in February, where he starred on both sides of the ball, but most notably on the mound. His fastball played at 90-92 mph in this brief look, and he spun a low-70s breaking ball with some bend for strikes, while also showing a firm changeup at 85-86 mph.

Durnin put together a truly incredible junior campaign for the Lakers in the spring and was an integral part of a Camdenton squad that was widely regarded as one of the best teams in Class 5. Though we didn’t see him during the spring, our staff saw Durnin throw twice at Creekside and he showed even louder stuff than what we saw in the winter. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound soon-to-be junior pitched in the low-90s with his fastball in both looks, touching 94 mph a few times, while throwing his breaking ball harder at 77-79 mph and creating sharper, more lateral spin as a result.

His breakout performance of sorts came at the Area Code Games, one of the premier scouting events in the country, where Durnin caught the attention of professional scouts and high-end collegiate programs after a stellar performance for the White Sox squad. After buzzing profoundly in collegiate circles, he committed to Texas Christian, who’s perennially one of the nation’s top programs and is fresh off an appearance in the College World Series.

After all that, Durnin climbed to sixth overall in the state’s loaded 2024 class and within the top-120 on a national level, too. He checks plenty of boxes from a professional perspective and, as a result, should be no stranger to pro scouts when his final high school season rolls around.
