SC Uncommitted SR Spotlight - Collin Breland

Collin Breland C / RHP / Barnwell , SC / 2020

Lean 6-1, 165lb frame with room to add strength throughout. Good projection remaining. Primary C recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph (tee). A 78 mph C velocity and 82 mph INF velocity. He recorded a 3.97 30yd split during testing. Stance is slightly open and outside the shoulders, carries the hands in a higher position over the back shoulder. Uses a toe tap timing mechanism and pushes the hands back, before attacking the ball from a steeper angle. Barrel flattens out through contact and produced consistent low line drives curing BP. Primary catcher showed good bend in the hips and solid receiving ability. Handled both FB and offspeed pitches well inside the shoulders with developing skill on pitches at the bottom of the zone. Aggressive on throws to second base with a short arm action and OTT slot. Accurate throws to 2B with minimal fade. Athletic behind the plate with good block/recover skills. Could slide up the line and play 3B if necessary. On the mound, he worked with controlled tempo and medium rocker step. Rotational at the top with a stabbing arm action that is slightly abbreviated. FB topped out at 83 mph with occasional arm side run, and the breaking ball was thrown with 10/4 shape with feel at 67-69 mph.

About E4 Consultants:

“NCAA Requirements often catch even the best student-athletes off guard. Nearly half of the athletes we have studied had incorrect information reported to the NCAA, affecting how their transcripts were evaluated by both the NCAA and college coaches. E4 Consultants will make sure this will not happen to you.”  - David Beckey - Owner E4 Consultants.

About David Beckley:
