SC Uncommitted SR Spotlight - Roman Golston

Roman Golston LHP / 1B / Ridgeview, SC / 2020

Medium build with strong lower half and high waist. Some projection remaining. At the plate, has a balanced stance with a slight crouch, outside the shoulders. Toe tap timing mechanism and minimal hand load. Lofted path with occasional barrel release. Good energy transfer into contact, maximizes the current power.  Avg. defender at 1st base, but was able to overcome some mechanical issues with athletic ability. Athletic enough to play a Corner OF position if necessary. Primary LHP with a repeatable delivery. Stretch exclusive. Worked to a balance point just below the belt, slight rotation at the top. Full arm action on the backside to a OTT slot. FB showed fading tendencies at 76-78. Breaking ball showed short break with occasional bite and flashes of plus potential at 69-71 with 1/7 shape. Showed a firmer side to side breaking ball at 71-73. Could see a bump in velocity. Competitor in game.

The PBR Uncommitted SR spotlight is brought to you by Prep Baseball Report - South Carolina in collaboration with E4 Consultants.

About E4 Consultants:

“NCAA Requirements often catch even the best student-athletes off guard. Nearly half of the athletes we have studied had incorrect information reported to the NCAA, affecting how their transcripts were evaluated by both the NCAA and college coaches. E4 Consultants will make sure this will not happen to you.”  - David Beckey - Owner E4 Consultants.

About David Beckley:

Coach Beckley brings more than 20 years of coaching experience, including 16 years at the Division 1 level, to the business.  Beckley spent 11 years as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for The Citadel Baseball program, and in that time, recruited hundreds of high school and junior college athletes.  During his coaching career he learned the ins and outs of the behind the scenes duties that are required to build and run a successful program.

Coach Beckley was directly involved with recruiting, scholarship offers, academic programming, NCAA rules and regulations, admissions, camps, fund raising, public speaking, sales and game day operations, corporate sponsorships, management of program’s booster club, and even served as program’s military liaison. Coach Beckley helped support the development of 27 professional players, including three big leaguers.
