HARTSELLE, AL - The North AL Preseason All-State was held on Saturday, January 6th at Hartselle High School in Hartselle, AL. This event was an invite-only event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2024-2028 classes. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 30 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Saturday.

Continuing off our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at all of the catchers that were at the event. Continue to check back over the next few days as additional positional scouting reports will be released. 

Jamison Barnes, Briarwood (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-11, 150-pounds. Athletic and leaner build, proportional.
Hit: RHH. Taller stance, narrow with the feet. Middle of the field approach from a compact, short approach. Handles the bat to all fields. 64.4 mph bat speed with 16 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 78.9 mph. 282’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 71.00 mph. Short arm, developing arm strength.
Defense: 2.18-2.34 pop times. Solid actions, clean transfers.
Run: 4.14 runner in the 30.

Jackson Burgess, North Sand Mountain (AL), 2026
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-9, 130-pounds. Athletic build, smaller body. Room for additional size.
Hit: RHH. Square, athletic base. Simple approach. Short with the hands to contact. Mostly flat bat path with a definite middle of the field approach. 71.1 mph bat speed with 19 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 85.4 mph. 306’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 76.00 mph. Quicker, athletic arm with present strength.
Defense: 1.97-2.09 pop times. Transfers and exchange were clean, blocks well.
Run: 4.38 runner in the 30.

Corbin Driskell, Southside (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 6-1, 215-pounds. Bigger bodied, XL frame, strong and sturdy base.
Hit: RHH. Narrow set up with the feet. Hands set fairly high in the stance. Some tilt in the bat path with carry to the middle of the field. 70 mph bat speed with 15 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 81.8 mph. 268’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 77.00 mph. Higher and quick release, short arm.
Defense: 1.99-2.16 pop times. Clean on exchange and transfers.
Run: 4.14 runner in the 30.

Jake Fridley, Hoover (AL), 2026
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 5-11, 175-pounds. Athletic body, lean. Well developed lower half.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, athletic setup with a fairly high leg kick trigger. Middle of the field approach with carry to both gaps. Slightly uphill bat path. 74.3 mph bat speed with 23 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 87.9 mph. 316’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 76.00 mph. Quicker arm, accurate.
Defense: 1.96-1.98 pop times. Clean and quick exchange and transfers. Blocks well.
Run: 4.04 runner in the 30.

Cole Griffin, Hartselle (AL), 2026
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-10, 175-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Balanced set up with the feet, small toe-tap trigger. Direct path to contact with the hands. Showed a mostly middle of the field approach. 62.4 mph bat speed with 13 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 83 max exit velocity, averaged 78.1 mph. 258’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 73.00 mph. Glove pat into throw, accurate throws. (C) Short, quick arm.
Defense: 2.03-2.11 pop times. Clean, moves well around the 1B bag. (C) Worked from a knee, solid transfers.
Run: Did not run the 30.

Jonah Inman, Cullman (AL), 2026
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 6-1, 130-pounds. Longer limbed with a lean frame. Athletic, more room to add mass and overall size.
Hit: LHH. Taller, balanced set up, hands set slightly high. Flat bat path. Multiple line drives back up the middle to the backside. 30.3 mph bat speed with 5 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 61.7 mph. 148’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 71.00 mph. Shorter and quick arm action.
Defense: 2.06-2.24 pop times. Clean on exchanges and transfers. Good blocks.
Run: 4.20 runner in the 30.

Will Langston, Vestavia Hills (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: C/1B
Body: 6-2, 195-pounds. Longer limbed body, leaner. More room to fill out the frame with strength and size.
Hit: RHH. Slight crouch in the stance. Slightly open with the feet. Showed a middle to pull side approach with juice to the LCF gap. 67 mph bat speed with 15 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 79.6 mph. 279’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 76.00 mph. Quick arm, solid arm strength.
Defense: 1.92-2.02 pop times. Quick out of the crouch, clean exchange.
Run: 4.12 runner in the 30.

James Lucas, Vestavia Hills (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 5-10, 195-pounds. Stockier, well developed lower half. Strong.
Hit: RHH. Small leg kick trigger, uses the lower half very well. Definite tilt in the bat path. Plenty of juice to all fields with carry. 76.7 mph bat speed with 18 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 104 max exit velocity, averaged 93.3 mph. 370’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 76.00 mph. Strong arm, quicker.
Defense: 1.96-1.99 pop times. Quick actions, works from a knee. Clean exchanges and transfers.

Dylan Parrish, Northridge (AL), 2026

Body: 5-10, 175-pounds. Sturdy and stronger look, athletic build.

Hit: RHH. Taller stance. Open setup with the feet. Explosive hands with bat speed. Some tilt in the bat path with carry to the pull side. 67.6 mph bat speed with 8 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 86.3 mph. 303’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 75.00 mph. Quick, short arm. Present arm strength.
