Updated and Expanded Class of 2014 Rankings

Ohio’s Class of 2014 Rankings experienced a shakeup at the top.
Florida transplant and current Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy prospect Cameron Varga (pictured above) takes over the top spot. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound two-way standout committed to the University of Florida as an infielder before the start of his freshman year in high school. Since that time, he has developed into one of the top pitcher’s in the nation for his class with a fastball rising up to 93 mph.
Moeller’s Zack Shannon (Ohio State recruit) and Riley Mahan (Kentucky recruit) slid down one spot respectively.

OTHERS WITH STOCK UP
Throughout the summer, Noble showed a live arm and the potential to be on his class’ premier pitchers. This fall, he seems to have taken the next step towards cementing himself towards the top by holding his velocity in the high 80’s and improving his overall command.
Jayce Vancenna, RHP, Lake HS/Michigan recruit
The big, 6-foot-4, 210-pound righty put together an impressive fall. On several occasions, his fastball reached into the low 90’s. Typically, he sat in the mid to upper 80’s. But, most impressive, he continues to work on his secondary pitches. After a standout performance against the East Cobb Astros at the Perfect Game Underclass WWBA in October, he committed to Michigan.
Blaine Griffiths, OF, Lakota West HS/Xavier recruit
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound switch hitting outfielder displayed advanced skills at the plate this fall, and as a result, picked up several in-state offers. This past week, he committed to Coach Googins and Xavier University.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect continues to show the makings of a Division I level pitcher. Recently, he showed an 83-86 mph fastball at the Fall Top Prospect Showcase along with above average secondary pitches. Assuming his velocity continues to increase into next summer, he should become a hot commodity next June.
Caleb Ferguson, LHP, West Jefferson HS
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound southpaw passes the look test with his size and frame. Over the summer, he showed a live arm, but was plagued with inconsistency due to some mechanical issues. With additional instruction this fall, he seems to be cleaning up his mechanics, which is aiding his command and the overall effectiveness of his off-speed pitches. Recently, his fastball sat 83-86 mph.
Jeremy Randolph, RHP, Miamisburg HS
The athletic prospect’s velocity took a jump this fall as he showcased a fastball up to 88 mph in the PBR Fall Prospect Program. Blessed with a live arm, Randolph is a definite follow into next summer as he continues to learn how to put it all together.
