The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Cornerstone Christian Warriors will look to make the postseason behind a veteran group in 2024 after just missing out last year. Coach Jason Stein and the Warriors will be a team built on their defense in 2024, and feature two defenders committed to playing at the next level as well as two pitchers.

On the mound, a pair of Coastal Bend commits will lead the pitching staff in RHP/1B Nick Rodriguez (2024) and RHP/INF Tyler Beyer (2024). Rodriguez is currently ranked within the top-300 for the state, and was a standout at the San Antonio Summer Open in June where he ran his fastball in the mid-80’s (T87) and paired it with a short, late-breaking slider. Projected to join these two on the pitching staff in 2024 is senior RHP/OF Zaide Enriquez (uncommitted) and junior RHP/CIF Andrew Paulson (uncommitted).

On the diamond, the Warriors return two seniors committed to playing at the next level in C Owen Edwards (UDallas) and 1B James Collier (Dordt). Also returning are juniors INF Sam Morales (2025; uncommitted) and INF Landon Matthews (2025; uncommitted), as well as sophomore OF Noah Rodriguez. Morales is one of the better remaining uncommitted juniors in the state, checking in at No. 189 in our state rankings. Morales was at the same event as the previously mentioned Rodriguez, and had a strong showing himself where he had a 90 mph bullet from across the infield, as well as a strong bat boasting a max EV of 95 mph at the event. INF Aiden Lopez (2025; uncommitted) and INF Aiden Schmidt (2025; uncommitted) are a pair of juniors expected to join the varsity squad in 2024 as well.

The Warriors’ program will welcome in three freshmen to keep tabs on moving forward in RHP Maddox Miossec, OF Kristian Thiele, and C Austin Riney, as these three could potentially make an impact right away this spring.

Cornerstone Christian has some exciting pieces on both sides of the ball to monitor this spring, and with these pieces the Warriors look primed to have a bounceback season in 2024.
