With the 2018 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state. Starting mid-January, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2018 Spring Team Preview: Akron Springfield Spartans
Team Name: Akron Springfield Spartans
Head Coach: John Kinsey
Division: II
Conference Record: Portage Trail Conference - Metro, 9-19 - 5th Place
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 2
2018 Team Strengths:
- Defense
Coach Outlook: "We will be in a position to where our best 9 defensive players will likely crack the lineup. If we can throw enough strikes to force teams to put the ball in play, our defense should be able to keep scores within striking distance as our young offense continues to mature throughout the season. I'm eager to watch all of our hard from the offseason continue into the regular season. We are in the early stages of building a program that operates on more of a year round basis. We will be very young top to bottom and I'm excited to see guys compete for time."
PBR Outlook: Spartans return just two starters from last year, but Coach John Kinsey is excited to see what his younger guys have in store.
