2024 GHSA Preview: Lassiter Trojans

The 2024 Georgia high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in mid-May inside one of Coolray Field, AdventHealth Stadium, or JI Clements Stadium at Georgia Southern University. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Rustay's Trojans will look to improve upon their 2nd round playoff loss last year. It looks like they have all the right pieces to make a deep in 2024. Their senior class could potentially by one of the strongest in the region. 2023 Future Games member and Tennessee commit, Darrell McDowell will lead the charge on the mound. Another division 1 commit, Logan Brock will follow him up, and uncommitted Jared Webb will round out their rotation. All three of these guys will give the Trojans a chance to win any time they step onto the mound. Their line up is going to be tough to pitch to, all 9 are really tough outs. Piedmont Ben Bodoh will lead the Trojans behind the plate, and be a big piece in their line up. Another player that we saw at Senior Games, and that is Piedmont commit, John Dickerson. Dickerson is a dynamic player that figured some things out with the swing this sumer, and will have a big senior year. Over at first base will be Northwest Florida commit, Ian Fullerton. Fullerton is another one that really came into his own this summer, and has a chance to have a big year. Lassiter always seems to be a team you never want to count out, especially their state championship appearance a few years back. Caden Lenzi  and Caden Fox will be two underclassman to keep an eye on. Fox is a real poer threat at the plate, and Lenzi is one of the top lefty pitchers for the '26 class in the state.  This 2024 team feels really similar, and will be one to keep an eye on when the season gets rolling.
