GHSA Scout Blog: Week 5

The Georgia Scout Blog will be a weekly blog with reports and videos from the players and teams that we go out to cover each week. The blog will remain for the length of the week with notes being added the day following from each game. At the end of the week we will update the POWER 25 and CLASSIFICATION RANKINGS, then at the beginning of the following week we will announce 2 Player of the Week awards, along with our Diamond Notes, which is a culminaton of all players that were not selected for player of the week. Note: Player of the Week submissions are sent in by high school coaches.

Monday, March 11th

Trey Farr, LHP/OF, 2025, East Forsyth
Uncommitted. We got a chance to see Farr at Georgia Dugout Club, and he had a big weekend finding the barrel on Friday night and all day Saturday. He got the start on the mound in a big region match up, and battled tough for 5 innings. He ran the fastball up to 86 and sat 82-85 with some arm side run. The delivery is smooth and effortless, and gets really good back leg drive down the mound. He showed a real 3 pitch mix with fading, downward action on the change-up in the upper 70's. He had feel for spin, and went to the breaking ball when needed. The competitiveness came out when he came up to the plate in a tie game and a runner on 2nd. He drives a ball to dead center off the wall for the lead. The swing is repeatable and smooth which leads to all the barrels Farr is finding.

John Stuetzer, SS, 2025, Pope
The 2023 Future Game alum is fresh off of a 20 touchdown season on the gridiron and back to looking dynamic on the diamond. Broad shouldered, physical 6-foot-0, 185-pound frame with athleticism that stands out on both sides of the ball. In-rhythm swing from the right-side, Stuetzer shows some barrel tilt in the load before firing above-average bat speed in an uphill bat path creating easy leverage. Jumped on a ball to the pull-side for an easy double while showing a strong approach with his other two at-bats, walking twice. Creates havoc on the base paths with above-average foot speed and smart base running that plays up by taking extra-bases consistently. Easy mover at SS after playing CF as a sophomore with good range and flexibility that’s backed by an above-average arm. The stock is rising quickly for the Florida State commit.

Jake Prince, INF, 2024, North Forsyth
The Flagler College commit was an extra-base machine on Monday night, finding doubles in all three at-bats and in multiple ways. Standing a lean 6-foot-0, 160-pounds, Prince does a good job manipulating the barrel through the zone with a real feel to hit. Took a breaking ball on the outer half for an opposite-field double early, would follow with a hard-hit line drive down the LF line for his next and would finish his 3-for-3 day by creating great leverage from a compact swing to drive a ball over the left fielder’s head. Prince has some positional flexibility in the infield with ability to play all four spots and will be an instant impact player at the d2 level.

Reid Worley, RHP, 2025, Cherokee
The overall stock for Reid Worley has been trending upward this spring, and that sediment rang true with this week’s outing. Over six scoreless innings, the Kennesaw State commit punched out 12 while just giving up a pair of hits. Worley has started to work in pitching out of the windup after being almost exclusively out of the stretch, and showed present command out of both. Mixed in two fastballs with the sinker and four-seam both at 89-91 with good arm-side life with and plenty of in-zone misses. Sweeper looks more like a budding plus offering at 78-82 with some of the best feel to spin in the class and real ability to add and subtract horizontal movement. Simply going give up loud contact with the pitch. Flashed the quality low-80s changeup at times but mostly stuck to a heavy fastball/sweeper combo. High-level athlete in a 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame, Worley checks plenty of boxes to be a top arm in the class.

Caleb Daniel, OF, 2024, Cartersville
The Georgia Commit has continued to do what he has done all year and produce in big moments for Cartersville late in the game. Daniel came through late in the game Tuesday with a 3 run homer to take the lead of region opponent Calhoun in the 5th inning. Caleb has been impressive at the plate in his Senior season showing power to all parts of the field. Daniel puts together mature at bats staying patient and working counts.

Wednesday

Cade Brown, 3B, 2024, Parkview
Brown came into the year as one of the best returning bats in the state, and has been exceeding expectations so far this spring. Relaxed and ultra-confident in the box, Brown consistently stays in-rhythm with a toe-tap trigger and impressive weight transfer. Barrel head is electric through the zone and creates significant carry from foul pole to foul pole. Came through with the two biggest swings of the day with a pair of home runs including a massive go-ahead grand slam in the 6th inning that would put Parkview up for good. The Georgia commit moves well at third base with quality footwork and ability to bend. Plenty of arm strength to make every throw. Brown was a big riser in the recent 2024 rankings update, and the stock is only growing.

Thursday

Bo Walker, OF, 2024, Starr’s Mill
Walker was quick to follow up Whitlock with a highly impressive blast to LCF to go back-to-back for Starr’s Mill. The Georgia Tech commit was caught out front but caught enough of the barrel backed by great strength in the wrists to drive a ball on a rope into the trees. Advanced body control and length through the zone work in tandem, and could lead to significant power potential as Walker fills out an athletic 6-foot-3 frame. The tools and projection to rival anyone in the class with the production to match as he builds his potential draft stock heading into this summer.

Tanner Langley, OF, 2024, Lagrange
Batting leadoff for Lagrange, the Georgia Southern commit was a sure fire quality at-bat throughout the night. Simple actions from the right-side, Langley shows good hip-to-shoulder separation and fantastic balance throughout. Bat path creates leverage and plenty of carry, as shown by a towering solo shot to dead CF in-game. Present athleticism in center field with range and arm strength to stick long-term. High-floor type of profile with some projection remaining in the 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame.

Judson Hartwell, CIF, 2025, Prince Avenue Christian
Georgia Tech commit. 2023 Future Gamer. Hartwell put on one of the more impressive summers at the plate, hitting over .500 against a national schedule. First time seeing him this spring, and he had 3 barrels off a quality arm that were all probably 100EV off the bat. Hartwell’s ability to slow the game down, and not try to do too much is impressive for his age. He is never out of AB’s with his ability to adjust and recognize pitches out of the pitchers hand. He has a plan each AB and sticks with it.
