With the start of the high school season getting started we have been previewing conferences around the state leading up to opening day. In addition to a look at the top teams we will also highlight some of the top prospects in each conference.
Rocky Grove (9-6), Eisenhower (6-12)
Both teams possess one ingredient that is extremely important in Class A baseball, a pitcher that can dominate. Righties Adam Kirwin (Rocky Grove) and Casey Vincent (Eisenhower) give their team a chance to win every time they toe the rubber. If either team can develop a solid No. 2 starter to go with their ace they will likely earn the district title.
Jesse Staudt, Cochranton HS (Class of 2014)
Staudt is a career .446 hitter in three seasons at Cochranton. He is closing in on the 100 hit plateau with 83 heading into his senior season. The 6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitter has shown a consistent ability to drive in runs, 78 RBI in three years, and has 30 extra base hits in that time. The Mercyhurst North East commit is ranked No. 199 in the PA Class of 2014.
