On November 7th, Prep Baseball Report launched its National Preseason ID Showcase Schedule, including two events from the state of Alabama. It all starts on January 3rd with the Birmingham Preseason ID and continues the next day on January 4th with the Huntsville Preseason ID, followed by our two biggest events of the preseason with the North AL Preseason All-State & South AL Preseason All-State two days later.

WHAT IS A PRESEASON ID EVENT?

The Preseason ID series is unique in several ways. It serves as an identifier heading into the spring high school season, giving our scouts as well as college recruiters, a list of prospects to follow as they plan their spring coverage. We also tend to see prospects’ best performances in the Preseason, as most athletes are fresh and coming off of strict and targeted off-season training programs that have resulted in big gains, primed for updating their PBR profile. All of which lends the perfect opportunity to secure invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events such as the Top Prospect Games, PBR Future Games, and more. 

Our staff strategically hosts Preseason I.D. events throughout the state in search of players who have taken advantage of the offseason, identifying new prospects to add to our follow lists or players our staff is already familiar with who are on the rise.

All player information including tech metrics, stats, videos, scouting reports and more will be hosted to the Prep Baseball Report website, bolstering the player profile, which is subscribed to by more than 900 colleges across the country.

ALABAMA CALENDAR

 

BIRMINGHAM PRESEASON ID

We're excited to hold our first Preseason ID of the winter at GeauxPlay Sports in Pelham, AL, which is an open event for Class of 2024-2029 prospects. We expect to see many talented players in attendance and look forward to seeing the gains that they've made in the off-season. The area of Birmingham consistently produces some of the state's best talent, and we're looking forward to check out the abundance of talent that will be on hand.

HUNTSVILLE PRESEASON ID

On the next day, we make the trek up to Clutch Performance in Huntsville, AL to host the Huntsville Preseason ID, the second and final Preseason ID event of the winter. Similar to the day before's, this event is another open event for Class of 2024-2029 prospects.

NORTH AL PRESEASON ALL-STATE

The North Alabama Preseason All-State is our first invite-only event on our Preseason Schedule and is set for January 6th. This showcase is an annual event that allows our staff to see some of the state's top 2024-2027 prospects in one setting. This year's event returns back to the Hartselle HS Indoor Facility, the same place where last year's event was held. Last year's North Preseason All-State was littered with talent throughout, including a group of eventual PBR Future Gamers and multiple nationally ranked prospects. Expectations are high for this event and we're ecstatic to see the abundance of talent set to attend in 2024.

Last year's roster for the North Alabama Preseason All-State now consists of 47 commitments, including 15 D-I prospects like RHP Christian Chatterton (No. 3 in 2024 class), 3B/RHP Caleb Barnett (No. 2 in 2025 class), 3B/RHP Braden Booth (No. 6 in 2024 class), RHP Jackson Hunter (No. 9 in 2024 class), SS Jaxson Wood (No. 3 in 2026 class), & more. SOUTH AL PRESEASON ALL-STATE

The South Alabama Preseason All-State is our second and final invite-only event on our Preseason Schedule and is set for January 7th. This showcase is an annual event that allows our staff to see some of the state's top 2024-2027 prospects in one setting. This year's event will be hosted at Saraland HS in Saraland, AL, a brand-new facility with artificial turf on their baseball field. Last year's South Alabama Preseason All-State was littered with talent throughout, including a group of eventual PBR Future Gamers and multiple nationally ranked prospects. Expectations are high for this event and we're ecstatic to see the abundance of talent set to attend in 2024.

Last year's roster for the South Alabama Preseason All-State now consists of 21 commitments, including 8 D-I prospects like RHP Connor Gatwood (No. 2 in 2024 class), C John Stowers (No. 2 in 2026 class), 3B Tanner Waldrop (No. 7 in 2024 class), SS/RHP Drey Barrett (No. 8 in 2024 class), & more. View last year's event roster HERE.
