Andrew Dilodovico C / 3B / Grosse Pointe South, MI / 2025

GROSSE POINTE FARMS - When Andrew Dilodovico was younger he dressed up as a Michigan baseball player for Halloween.

The probability of wearing a college uniform in the future is now stronger than ever for the top-rated 2025 catcher in Michigan.

“It’s a little more than I thought it would be,” the Grosse Pointe South junior admitted about his recruitment. “I thought it would be one school, but with the help of PBR I’ve gotten more interest than I ever thought I’d get. Talking to all these coaches is really cool.”

Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Ball State were all in contact with Dilodovico prior to the recruiting rule change and Michigan and Yale are among those that have shown interest since Aug. 1.

“PBR, especially since Adam took over, has really helped me,” Dilodovico said in reference to Prep Baseball Michigan Scouting Director Adam Goodwin. “He saw me at Wayne State and has worked hard for me since the Future Games. I’ve got the Procase coming up.

“I’ve wanted to play college baseball since I was eight or nine,” added the 17th-ranked uncommitted junior in the state. “I went to camps (Michigan four times) when I was younger and built relationships and then with PBR pushing, it’s gone even further.”

Goodwin points to his ability behind the plate as a big selling point.

“Andrew is a late bloomer,” Goodwin said. “He battled an injury last spring, but came on strong in the middle of summer. He has proven to be a true defender with solid footwork and receiving skills. Andrew’s arm strength continues to get better to go along with his already sturdy frame that is needed to catch on a consistent basis.”

The 6-1 180-pounder likes how his game is developing.

“Last year playing varsity as a sophomore was a big stepping stone for me,” Dilodovico explained. “I put the bat on the ball a lot, but didn’t put it in play hard. This summer I took a big step up with eight doubles. As long as I keep up my defense and improve my power, my game will just get better.”

Coaches he has conversed with believe his play at catcher is what really stands out.

“Everybody I’ve talked to loves my movement behind the plate,” the 35th-ranked 2025 in Michigan noted. “They like how I can move and how tall I am. They know my power will come, I’ve made strides there.”

It was during 14U baseball when Dilodovico started to believe playing after his high school days are over was going to happen.

“I made a team change, saw good competition and started to see next-level guys,” related the number one uncommitted junior catcher in Michigan, who began playing for Anchor Bay Angels, now known as Wow Factor. “A coach that made a difference for me was Denis Drumb.”

The 16-year-old, who will be taking a visit to Yale on Jan. 27, knows what he is looking for in a college.

“For me it’s about a culture of teammates,” Dilodovico explained. “I want a college that builds on a core group of guys and values. It’s what we have at South. We have a legendary coach (Dan Griesbaum) who gets success from building a culture. I want that, I want a family.”

High academics is also of vital importance for the 4.01 student, interested in a pre-med or business major.

“A visit to Yale is a huge opportunity,” Dilodovico related. “Some coaches want to wait until spring with the portal, but Yale kind of jumped out. I’m also planning on going down south for tournaments this month and then the Procase.

“Hopefully, I’ll be in top shape for the high school season. I’ve been working countless hours, I know this is kind of go-time. If an opportunity comes up, I hope to snap up that dream.”
