The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Tuloso-Midway Warriors, led by Coach J.K. Moody, bring back an experienced and veteran roster in 2024. Seven of the ten returning players on varsity in 2024 earned All-District honors last season. With their returning roster and pitching depth, the Warriors are poised to make a deeper postseason run in 2024.

The returning roster will be headlined by Incarnate Word signee, OF Josh Garcia, who was awarded Second Team All-District in 2023. Alongside Garcia in the senior class will be INF Javier Vela (uncommitted), RHP/INF Nic Aguilar (uncommitted - Honorable Mention All-District 2023), and INF Eloy Rios (uncommitted - 1st Team All-District 2023).

The returning junior class for Tuloso-Midway is deep with two-way players throughout the class. These junior two-ways include INF/RHP Max Lara (uncommitted - 2nd Team All-District 2023), UTL/RHP Emanuel Reyes (uncommitted - 2nd Team All-District 2023), UTL/LHP Israel Benavides (uncommitted - 2nd Team All-District 2023), and CIF/RHP Ozbie Buentello (uncommitted). The Warriors also bring back C/OF Erik Flores (uncommitted - Honorable Mention All-District 2023) and OF Andrew Barrera (uncommitted) to round out the returning junior class.

A trio of sophomores hope to crack the varsity squad in 2024 in INF/UTL Richard Sanchez, RHP Patricio Acosta, and LHP/OF Jaden Smith. Look for Acosta and Smith to make an impact on the mound as potential two-ways for the Warriors and Sanchez to factor in wherever he is needed on the diamond due to his utility status.

There is a lot to like with this Warriors squad when you factor in their overall returning roster paired with the pitching depth they have throughout each grad class. Look for Coach Moody and the Warriors to make a deeper 4A postseason run in 2024 after finishing as 4A Bi-District Finalists a year ago.
