Preseason Preview: Oran HS

By Ethan Silverman
Missouri Scouting Director

Coming off of a 3rd place Class One finish in 2012, Coach Mitch Wood’s Oran team will be returning six starters from last year’s squad and should once again be a dominant Class One force to be reckoned with

“We lost three quality players from on 3rd place state finish.  I do feel that our pitching will be less one good arm.  Our hitting will hopefully be as strong if not stronger, we have some returning players that I feel will have a better season than last year,” said Coach Wood.

With the departure of statistical leaders Blake Carlyle (OF) and Dalton Elfrink (3B/RHP), seniors Kody Moore (RHP/SS) and Alex Heuring (C) along with junior Seth Ressel (RHP/INF) should provide plenty of offense. The one, two punch of Moore and Ressel on the mound give Oran two top of the rotation arms. Junior outfielder Chance Tenkhoff along with sophomore Jacob Priggel and Hunter Schlossner will roam the outfield, and provide stability and production throughout the lineup.

Oran is in contention to go to state every year (17 appearances since 1980), and looking get over the hump this year to bring back a state championship to Southeast Missouri for the first time.
