PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
Kelly: I picked Minnesota because they have a great coaching staff and preach the importance of other things besides just baseball.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Kelly: University of Missouri
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?
Kelly: They first saw me during my freshman season of high school and my relationship with Coach Casey and Coach Anderson have been amazing the whole way.
PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
Kelly: Absolutely. It’s a huge weight lifted off my shoulders and I can’t wait to play for the team I’ve grown up watching.
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
Kelly: Yes. My relationship with the coaches goes beyond just baseball. They have a great family like culture at Minnesota which I really value.
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Kelly: My whole family has played a huge role in who I am today. They have all helped me in some way and I wouldn’t be here without them.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
Kelly: I had a good understanding of what I was getting into because my brother went through it all before me. It’s a lot more difficult than people think but once you find the right school it’s a great feeling.
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
Kelly: I will be competing for a spot in the lineup and will play anywhere they need me.
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Kelly: Playing at Target Field for the league championship

Scouting Report
Positional Profile: C
Body: 6-foot-1, 180-pounds. Athletic projectable frame.
Defense: 2.14-2.20 pop times. Soft hands with fluid transfer, exchanges are clean. Directional and concise footwork.
Arm: RH. C - 72 mph. Short over the top slot, easy arm, played consistently accurate.
Hit: LHH. Balanced stance, short dive stride, closes off, smooth loading action, strong balance through contact. Simple low effort swing, worked middle of the field with occasional back spin contact.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Run: 7.07 runner in the 60.

2017 PBR Future Games- Uncommitted 6-foot-1, 170-pound left-handed hitting catcher. 7.29 runner. Long athletic build. Tall stance, easy trigger and stride, clean bat path, works gap to gap, line drive approach with sneaky pop, 83 mph exit velocity. Easy arm action, solid accuracy, above avg. carry, young mechanically, has tools to develop, high sought after LHH catcher prospect with room to grow, 74 mph arm strength with 2.04-2.12 pop times.
3/18/17- 6-foot-1, 170-pound left-handed hitting catcher. 7.5 runner. Easy actions in box, works mid/away, line drive and fly ball contact, quiet head, repeats swing well, consistent solid contact, 81 mph exit velocity. Flexible behind plate with solid athleticism, handles low strike, sound blocker, stance can be narrow at times, loses outside pitch, stays down and works through plate, easy arm action, sound carry and accuracy to bag, 1.9-2.02 pop times with 70 mph arm strength.
